Five weeks ago.

A man setting in a darkened control room, watching several displays as he taps his fingers on the metal arm rest of his seat. One monitor shows an emotional ceremony. “Disbanded…” The man said to himself as though he could barely believe it. “Hmmm… Such a sad scene. Ha! Hahahah!!! That’s it, go your marry ways… I will find you… Find you all… And when I do, I’ll put a bullet between your eyes. Each and every one of you! For all the trouble you have caused me!” The man’s tone was a hiss at first, then it turned sharper, into a shrieking of rage as he slammed his fist down on the arm rest.

OOC: Okay, picking up in the present, each of you are gonna have several Cobra operatives trying to assassinate you. Don’t worry, they are stooges at best, “Morons on the pay roll” and all that you know… Just each of you set up a scene of where your character would be after the Joe time has been supposedly disbanded. Couple suggestions: Snake Eyes… Maybe back at his cabin with Scarlett trying to rebuild it? Storm Shadow or Zartan could be sent after you two… ;) Um… Perhaps some of the Joe’s are trying to either get the team reinstated by the government, weeding through some crimson guards perhaps posing as political figures? I hope this works out! Give it a shot folks! I want to see what comes of it! If you like I can be the throw away cobra troops. ;)

Snake Eyes

As I finish chopping the wood for the fire, I begin to reflect on all that had happened in such a short amount of time. Five weeks ago. That's how long ago that it was when the day came that the GI Joe faction was disbanded. With the threat of Cobra thought to be only a hated memory now, it seemed to be pointless to keep us around anymore. Atleast, this was the impression that the higher ups in office left on most of us when they pulled the plug. Seemed like the price to keep some of their most highly trained men and women around was suddenly too much without an imidiate threat around.

But there was one bright side to this, it allowed many of us to return to their life without the worry of Cobra coming after us. I think that's what kept many in the program for so long. The security that it gave one to have the governments best at your side. A few had admit to me about that in their moments of weakness. People told me alot of things since they knew I was the least likely to tell on them.

However, this was the past that I was focusing on now. What was important to me now was that I had found a bit of peace out here with Scarlett. Speaking of which, she was probably wondering where I was now. It was already night when I cut the last of the wood that was needed. Carrying the lumber in my arms, I made my way back to the cabin which we had spent the last few weeks.

Heading towards the cabins light, I found myself infront of the old door when a faint sound turned my attention away from my work. Dropping the pieces of wood to the floor on instinct, I look around the area as I keep myself in a fighting stance. Was I just hearing things? For a moment, I thought I had heard something moving around from nearby. Jerking my head to look up, I stair at the rooftop with great interest as I begin to slowly move away for a better look. Either I was hearing things, or something was up there...

Storm Shadow

I looked down at the person who is standing there and know that it is my most hated enemy and the person who killed my uncle, Snake Eyes. He was looking straight up at where I was hiding as if he knew that I was there, but then again he was the best student that my uncle had, except for me that is. I moved to the edge of the roof and looked down at him, "So, I have finally tracked you down and now it is time for you to die."

I jumped off the roof and landed near him and saw him relax, the fool. Before he knew what was happening I kicked him in the abdomen, causing him to double over and fall to the ground. I walked over to him and with a smile picked him up and did a spinning kick but this time he blocked it and swept my other leg out from under me.

"You will pay for that and the murder of my uncle," I said as I got up and drew my sword.

Scarlett

IC: Looking out the window of the cabin. Its dark. Frowning to myself, wondering where he is. I dont know what it is about tonight, but I can't relax. Maybe I need a good workout with the punching bag? Grinning slightly or a good work out in the bedroom.
Hearing the commotion outside I quickly grab my crossbow and slip out a side window.
STORM SHADOW I hissed just audible. I didnt need him to hear me. Taking aim, waiting patiently for a window of opportunity.

Snake Eyes

Storm Shadow?!? Should have guessed from the start that it was him of all people. Just about anybody else would have been easy for me to pick up out here. My side still ached from the hard kick he had delivered just moments before in his initial attack. Walking the pain off, I try to keep my distance from Storm Shadow for as long as I could as he brought out his sword. Not one to go outside without a weapon of my own, I bring my own blade up to my side in responce.

Shacking my head in anger at his claims about his uncles death, I try to stay back to avoid another battle. Especialy with Scarlet in the cabin right next to us. The last thing I wanted to do was risk bringing her into the middle of this madness. Without warning, Storm Shadow charges forword with his blade swinging for my head. Reflecting the blow with my own sword, we lock into a struggle for the upper hand.

Trying my best to stay calm, I fall backwards to allow his weight to force him forword onto me. Once he losses his balance, I lift my feet to push him back with a hard kick to the chest. Kicking with all my strength, I force him to fall back for now. We both leap back to our feet at almost the same time. We keep our eyes trained on one another, our blades ready at our sides to strike at any moment.

Scarlett

Watching Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow fighting it out was hard. But I knew it was something that I had to do. I think I cringed everytime a sword flashed. I stayed back, watching.

Jinx...

sighed sipping the cold beer in her hand. She felt so out of sorts. Disbanded... it had been a while... she still couldn't get into the civilian way of living. She'd been too involved... she'd gone undercover for goodness sakes... deep under... she still suffered intense nightmares from what she'd had to do to prove herself to the Cobra's.

She left her unfished beer on the counter. Throwing a couple of bills down to cover it. She threw on her leather jacket and walked outside. She paused, trying to decide what to do next. She often found herself doing this. Life had been so much easier as part of the team. She reacted to situations... she wasn't expected to sit around and DECIDE what to do everyday.

She took a deep breath and turned left, walking down the now deserted streets. She had no real direction so she just kept walking. Unaware of the pair following her. Finally they made their move. She looked surprised, but smiled.

"Hello gents... how can I help you?" She asked
They looked at each other then back at Jinx and with mutual grunts they attacked. She actually got chills. This she knew how to handle. As if in slow motion she seemed to become more fluid. They attacked with knives. She was unarmed. From the outset it would seem she was doomed.

She stepped foward and with blinding speed... she moved. The only sounds were the heavy grunts... only this time of pain. Angry... they came forward again. She spun kicking one in the head the other received the benefit of her elbow to his jaw. There was a sickening crunch and a howl of pain. She smiled as she turned to face them again. She wasn't even breathing heavy.

"If you'd just ask nicely... I'm sure I could help you guys..." she taunted. Her eyes narrowed as again they attacked. This time she wasn't playing around. Her fists moved with deadly precision. The man she focused on went down hard. He wasn't getting back up. The other started to run. Before he could take more than a step she manouvered... dropping to the ground using one hand to support herself her legs kicked out tripping him. He feel with a groan. She picked up his discarded knife and jerked his head up from behind pressing the blade to his neck.

"Who sent you..." her voice was cold.

Lady Jaye

I walked up the walk to the small apartment building that she called home now. Disbanded. The word still rang through my mind and I still could not seem to grasp the finality of it.

I had gone into a career as an aide-it seemed like a natural choice given my knowledge of languages. The hardest part of leaving the Joes had to be saying good bye to Flint (we dont have a Flint so I am writing him out of the pic). He had taken this harder than even I had and needed some time to get himself together. I supposed that was what we all needed-to get back to where we were before the team was formed. But the words rang hollow even as I thought them.

My key had just clicked into the lock when I heard it...a noise. Barely audible but there. Every instinct I had told me I was not alone and that this was not someone coming home late from work. Someone was watching me and waiting...

Slip-Stream

This is my character and "his" jet.

OOC: For lack of information on the character, I am going to base him around "Maverick", from the movie Top Gun.

IC: "Damn I miss the team." the words keep running through my head. I got the best package out of the rest of the Joes. I am still in service, luckily the military still has need of me to test the X-30. I love this jet, only thing is I have to help them make her flyer friendly, less responsive in other words. Plus I get to fly against the best fighter pilots the Navy has to offer.

I bank hard to the right, no fancy flying right now. These pilots at Miramar, better known as Top Gun, are good but I am better. This is the fastest, most maneuverable jet ever built. I slow down, allowing the students to catch up. "Whoa! three of you gang up on lil old me?" I ask sarcastically. Looking up at the display, I see the lead attacker is Maverick the closest thing they have to offer to an equal to me. "I bet if we were both in a F-14, we might be of equal skill." I think. As someone locks on to me, I pull back on the stick and throw it to the left sending me in a looping spin leveling out behind the three pilots flying in a "V" formation. Before I have time to play with them we are called back to base, the games are cancelled for now. "Hey Mav., want to have a little fun?" I ask him over the radio. "What do you have in mind?" was the response. "I think it is time we have a little flyby." I tell him. "Man I haven't done that in years! Let's do it." he almost shouts back to me. "Follow me." I say as I pull along side him.

I switch the radio over to the air field frequency, and call the tower. "Tower this is Wolf pack, requesting flyby."
"Negative Wolf pack, the pattern is full." is the response we get. Looking over at Maverick he is smiling from ear to ear. I switch back to the squadron frequency. "Oh man, this is like old times!" Maverick exclaims with excitement. We fly off from the rest of the group and head towards the tower. Mav falls slightly behind me as we buzz the tower, missing it by just a few feet. Sure we would be in trouble, but we thrived on fun, we chuckled over the radio just thinking of someone taking a sip of coffee as we raced by.

As we land, I am crawling out of the Conquest when two men dressed in black approach me. My eyes widen in amazement as I realize who these men are.

"Slip-Stream, we are here to see you." one begins, almost stuttering. "I don't know how you got on the base, snake scum, but I don't deal with the likes of you." I reply not missing a beat. Apparently Cobra Commander thinks a hot shot pilot isn't worth more than two of his men. "I don't care what you want, leave now and I won't think nothing else of it, or hang around awhile and you will leave in body bags." I tell them, finishing my statement.

They look at one another for a second before yelling out "Cobra!!!" and charging towards me. I side step the closest one, and give him a push sending him crashing into the front landing wheel of the jet falling to the ground unconscious. Someone notices the struggle, because the MPs are rushing towards us. The other Cobra starts running away so I throw my helmet at his feet tripping him, causing him to fall flat on his face. Once they hauled the goons off, I head towards the main office to file my report.

I feigned a slice to the right and just when he moved to block I reversed and sliced towards his left but saw that he expected it and stopped me. He was still as good as ever, even though he had corrupted the teaching that he was given and had killed my uncle.

I looked at him, my eyes narrowed before I jumped up and did a spinning kick that connected with the side of his head and sent him flying to the ground. I moved closer to him, my sword in hand when I saw a glint of sunlight off metal and moved just in time to avoid the crossbow bolt that would have gone into me. I looked and saw Scarlett but I knew that it was a fatal mistake as I felt Snake-Eyes' foot when it connected with my chest and sent me to the ground.

I looked up at him as he walked towards me, sword in hand and said, "Kill me like you killed my uncle you coward. Come on, get it over with!"

OOC: *Clapping* Awsome posts so far folks! I will be posting replys to all of you where it aplies tomorow afternoon.

Snake Eyes

Storm Shadows words of anger hit me fast and hard as I stood over him. After all of this time, he still honestly believed that I was to blame for these deaths. And for a moment, only a moment, I was very tempted to end his life right there. I knew damn well that he would never stop hunting me down till one of us was dead. That was something I had lived with for years now.

Only this time, he could have brought Scarlett into the middle of this feud. If I had lost this fight... he would have moved to the cabin to finish her off next. The look of anger and hate in his eyes burned through me with each passing moment that we stayed like this.

My fingers grip around the blade handle tighten. Without waiting another second, I strike Storm Shadow across the forhead with the metal handle of my sword. The ninja passes out from the blow as I begin to remove his weapons. Standing over him for a moment, I consider ending his life but shake it off. That would just make me what he has accused me of for so long.

Using some rope usualy used for holding lumber together, I securly tie his arms and legs to keep him in check for when he awakens. The fact that I needed help to win this, showed that I was already starting to lose my control because of the time away from action.

As I finish with the ropes, I gesture over into the cabin at Scarlett. We were going to need to leave here soon. Despite how much he hated me, Storm Shadow would not come out here to face the two of us alone.

Jinx...

pressed the blade harder against the man's throat. He whimpered but refused to talk. "Shit!" She growled.

She held down his wrist and flicked the knife expertly so that she held it in a stabbing motion. Without a flicker she thrust the blade into his hand pinning it to the ground beneath. He howled in agony, instinctively trying to pull his hand away which only teared the flesh making him scream louder. Jinx waited until he was simply moaning and asked him again... "who sent you..."

She didn't need a knife to end his life... she told him this in case he had misunderstood his current situation. Suddenly it was as if she were one of the Cobra's again. She was shutting down the side to her that was able to care about anything. She'd been told she was a bad luck charm... well she certainly was for this guy.

"Cobra... I'm... a C... C... obra..." he whimpered. Jinx froze. Couldn't be. Her mind clicked over the implications of this. Was this revenge? Did they know her? Did they know she was actually planted and that she worked for their sworn enemies? She couldn't believe that... if she did... she'd be dead within the week.

"Tell them they've got the wrong person..." she hissed into his ear. She stood up looking down at him. His free hand clutched his wrist. He was obviously in a lot of pain. "Don't forget my message..." she reminded him just before she jabbed her fingers into a nerve in his neck that left him unconcious.

She hurried back to her apartment.

As soon as I opened my eyes I looked at the two of them and saw that they were packing. I began to shout at them, "You cowards! First you can't fight me one on one and now you are leaving me here to die!"

As I was shouting at them I began to cut the ropes with the only weapon that Snake Eyes hadn't found. As soon as they were cut I quickly got out of them and then grabbed my sword. Before either of them knew what was happening I jumped into the air and slammed my foot into the back of Snake Eyes head, causing him to crash against the ground.

I walked towards him and turned him over, pointing my sword at his throat but as soon as I did something seemed to go off in my head. I looked at him again and said, "Snake Eyes, what are you doing here. What am I doing here?"

I then dropped my sword to the ground and screamed out in pain, my hands going to my head as I fell to the ground.

Snake Eyes

"Snake Eyes, what are you doing here. What am I doing here?" were the last words that escaped his lips. He was not putting up an act from what I could tell by the tone of his voice. Storm Shadow suddenly grabed at his head as he fell over in pain. His screams of pain filling the normaly quiet woods.

Scarlett tried to hold me back as I began to made my way towards him. Resting my hand on her cheek, I let her know in my own way that I was ready for whatever he could have up his sleeves. Cautiously, I walked up to his body as he continued to cry out in agony.

Reaching into my small pack, I pull out a sedative and quickly inject it into Storm Shadow. Keeping him pinned to the ground as the sedative kicks in, I check his pulse the whole time to assure he wouldn't go into shock. We needed him alive to try and find out just what the hell was going on around here.

After Storm Shadow finaly begins to calm down, I cary him into the cabin to get him out of the cold. We needed to go, but I wanted to make sure he would be ok first. There was something about all of this that just didn't seem right to me. Like there was more to it then meets the eye.

Scarlett

OOC We must have posted at the same time so I deleted my original entry.

IC: My mind was racing. How could I not have been ready for that. Trying to hold Snake Eyes back, but he wouldnt. This time I wouldnt be taken in. I dont think Snake Eyes noticed, but I had my cross bow ready, just in case. This time, Storm Shadow was not going to get a second chance if he was pulling any tricks.

I opened my eyes and looked up just to see Snake Eyes standing above me. As I looked at him I tried to figure out what I was doing here and more importantly, how I got here.

"Snake Eyes, old friend. What are you doing here, what has happened here."

I tried to get up but found that I couldn't and then I looked down and found to my shock that I was wearing the white uniform I had when I was in Cobra. But I had left them so long ago that it seemed like a distant memory.

I glanced over and saw Scarlett with a crossbow in her hands pointed straight at me. I turned back to Snake Eyes, "Help me old friend. Something happened to me and I am frightened. The last thing I remember I was walking away from my dojo and someone grabbed me and then I woke up here in this dispicable uniform. Can someone please tell me what happened here?"

Scarlett

He sounded very shaken. Could it be a trick? He looked over at me. Atleast he would know if it was a trick, I was ready. I lowered my cross bow, but didnt put the safety on. I listened. I listened to his words, his voice, but more importantly I listened to the noises of outside. Straining scanning, sorting through which noises were the norm for out here, and which ones werent.

Snake Eyes

OOC: I want to avoid having Snake Eyes talk. So the way this post is handled might be kinda awkward but it's the best I can do. :)

IC: Storm Shadow seemed to be telling the truth from what I could tell. He apparently did not know anything about what he was doing here or why he was here. There did seem to be a tone of fear in his voice about this whole situation.

Thoughts on how to handle this ran through my head by the second. I guess the best way to start was to let him know what he wanted to find out so badly.

Using sign language that I knew he would understand, I go through all that I had known. Making sure that I'm slow enough for him to follow me, we eventualy get to the point where he had apparantly reawakened from his hypnosis.

Once everything is fully explained to the best of my knowledge, I motion to Scarlett that I was going to untie him. This was a big chance that we were taking, but it was needed if we were to start getting down to business.

Lady Jaye

There were two of them and they charged out of the shadows and right toward me. I had a handgun issued to me from the embassy but I didnt wish to alarm any of the tenants of the building. Thinking fast, I lept up and grabbed ahold of the metal work of the stairs above my head and swung my legs together and outward.

One of them was kicked back and onto the sidewalk as I let go of my hold and swung out to drop just above his head. He was stunned but conscious. I fixed that with a blow to the temple. Now it was just me and the man who had slammed into my apartment door. Turning, he let a growl escape his throat and he walked menacingly towards me. I cursed the skirt and pumps I was wearing and worked on staying out of range-for now.

"Who are you and why are you attacking me," I said to him as we began to circle each other. "Dont play dumb, Joe," He chuckled,"We are finishing a job that should have been done a long time ago."

"Joe?" My mind was awhirl. I was dealing with Cobra? And not the top of the line in the organization either. Well, that answered that question so there was only one more thing to do.

Waiting for him to make the first move, I threw myself down on my hands and kicked my legs out to sweep his feet the minute his fist swung for me. He went down with a satisfactory thud and I was on top of him in a moment, my arm across his windpipe.

"I dont know what kind of game you are playing," I said as I slowly cut off his air supply,"The Joes have been disbanded. Even an idiot like your leader should have heard about that. And here is an extra message for him, too. You tell him that this was a very stupid move on his part and the next time his messanger boys wont be coming back."

With that last, his eyes rolled up into his head and I stayed that way for a short time longer to make sure he was really out and not just faking it before getting up and looking at my two attackers.

Opening my door, I went in and packed up a few things and changed into something more practical. This was not a good place to stay right now. I would have to find other lodgings for awhile.

Storm Shadow

As soon as I was untied I slowly got to my feet and placed my hands onto Snake Eyes' shoulders. I looked into his eyes and said, "I am so sorry friend- friends. I did not mean to do what I did. Can you forgive me."

Snake Eyes looked at me and was about to say something in our sign language but before he could I raised my hand and pointed up at the roof. He looked up and that was when we both heard the sound of a foot stomp down onto the roof. I then said something to him in our sign language and he agreed. After I put on my hood I slipped out one of the windows, as silent as the wind.

Duke

"Finally, the President has agreed to see me away from the political BS, and the reach of Cobra's planted puppets in the Senate." I think as the long black limo pulls in front of my house. I lean against the car as the Secret Service agents search me for any weapons. At least I know the President still trusts me, only two Hummers with the SS agents in them. After they are certain I am clear of any weapons, I am allowed into the limo.

As we pull off, I look at the President. "Mr. President, I know we made plans to have dinner at Miyabi's, but do you trust me enough to suggest another restaurant?" I ask, hoping he will realize that I do not want to take any chances of our meal being interrupted. "That will be fine." he replies as he calls the escorts and tells them to follow us. I hand a piece of paper to the driver as he turns down the new street and heads towards the new restaurant, Lamber Jays. It is the newest, trendiest place around. I look back at him, "I think you know why I was persistent in getting you to see me." I say. "I think I do, but go ahead and tell me." he replies with all attention directed to me. "You need to reform the Joes Mr. President, cobra is causing more havoc than ever, we are the worlds only hope." I tell him, my voice full of honesty. Before he can reply, the driver announces our arrival. "We will continue this discussion after dinner." the President tells me as the doors are opened for us. "After dinner then." I reply getting out of the limo.

Zartan:

Stepping from the shadowy cloak of the alley mere feet from where Jinx and the two cobra stooges had fought, a man stared harshly down at the unconscious fool. Looking around for a moment, seeing no one about, he smiles and looks back down at the unconscious cobra agent. Shaking his head, the man levels a sleek gun with a silencer attached to the man’s forehead and fires. Lifting his gaze back up and looking in the direction Jinx had ran, the man smiled again and followed after her.

Scarlett

I was still listening...something was strange outside. I looked at Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. They were talking...well communicating.

Frowning, my eyes went to the ceiling. My skin was crawling. Was Storm Shadow being followed? He usually worked alone. But, my gaze looked at the two men. The bond that once pulled them close looked to be still there.
Quietly I snuck out the room. Listening all the time.

Going to the farthest window away from where the men were....I opened it silently. I had my crossbow, with plenty of bolts. I wanted quiet. I had plenty of stars with me.

I perched in the window. Listening again. The roof. Someone was on the roof. Going over to the water tank, I climbed up. I had great shadows. No one could see me. I took a peek.

A SAW Viper was walking across the roof. He was still close to me. He was moving to where Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow were.

Smiling to myself, keep going I told him in my mind. There is a weak tile up there. Yes keep going...
Thud.
Both Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow knew he would be there.
The SAW Viper stood up...and readied his weapon.

I raised myself up on the roof...layed down. Loaded a bolt and aimed. Smiling as the bolt went through his head, causing him to jolt forward, and rolling off the roof.

I ran to where he rolled off the roof and saw Storm Shadow outside. A little earlier and he would have been flattened by the Viper rolling off the roof.

Snake Eyes was outside, with Storm Shadow, looking over the Viper.

I jumped down and walked to Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow.

Storm Shadow

I looked at Snake Eyes and signalled that there may be more of them out there because Cobra would want him dead more than anyone else. I then pointed one way while I pointed the other way and he instantly knew what that meant. Before I cold signal another word he was gone and I smiled, there was a reason that he was my best friend.

I then hurried off onto the other side of the cabin, straight into the trees and saw a glint of metal. Before the Viper knew what was happening I jumped up and kicked him straight in the head and smiled when I saw him fall to the ground, obviously not going to get up for a good long while.

Just then I heard heavy machine gun fire coming from the direction that Snake Eyes went in and taking off my bow ran in that direction to help him.
