Future FAWC

I wonder... there have been several books with specific themes along these lines - below is the one whose title I remember. Is this sort of what you had in mind?

A Coin in Nine Hands, by Marguerite Yourcenar- During the space of a day in Rome in 1933, a ten-lira coin passes through the hands of nine people-including an aging artist, a prostitute, and a would-be assassin of Mussolini. The coin becomes the symbol of contact between human beings, each lost in private passions and nearly impenetrable solitude.

We may be able to keep that depression under control... though not the sleep deprivation part. Unless we bore you to sleep. :D

I know the idea seemed cool at the time but I'll be damned if I recall it now. As for sleep deprivation, I believe I'll go see if I can get a few winks before 3:30 rolls around.

I love this idea for a chain story. A shared object or location linking otherwise unconnected stories.

As you probably know, Gorza, the theme for FAWC6 has been picked already, but the future is still out there :)) )- let's keep it in mind.

Oh, I have heard that. I was thinking of some future FAWCing perhaps.

Not to seem ignorant, but I was just doing my random drive-by posting here and saw this. Who was slyc? And what happened to him, if it's okay to ask? It seems I should remember this person; familiarity and all that but no finger on the source.

Also, is there a place where perhaps the rules of FAWC might be clearly written? FAWC One perhaps? Not trying to bother anyone, just curious before throwing a name in the hat.

slyc was a writer here at Lit, and a forum contributer. He came up with the idea for a "Friendly, Anonymous Writing Challenge," or FAWC, a year or two ago. he came up with a theme or idea for stories to center on, we wrote them, they were posted under one username (FAWCker), and the idea was to see how stories fared when readers didn't know the authors.

Slyc, unfortunately, passed away just before Halloween.

There really aren't many rules, aside from Lit's rules, for a FAWC. There is a time limit, but that's about all.

For the current contest, our "theme" is using four words from one of the letters in the name "slyc." if you contact _Lynn_ via PM with the subject "I'm in FAWC6" and specify which letter you want, she will respond with the four words.

The hard part is concealing my style and category. So my contribution is different for me. Like Ian Fleming writing CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG rather than James Bond. My 4 words are weird, too, but I used them cleverly. I think I can fool you.

OMG! :D

My four words are ... interesting! LOL.

Thank you so much, Lynn, for taking time and trouble to do this for us. Really appreciate it.

What kind of challenge would it be if the lists included normal words? :D

Ye...e..es LOL.

We used to be allowed to share the identity of the story with an editor, is that still OK? People were very generous about editing even if they also had a FAWC story, and good about not even hinting when they knew one or two of the other story authors.

Maybe others in the challenge can give their thoughts on this and we can add it to the "rules" for the future.

I think this should be fine. It was allowed in the previous FAWCs. I mean, there's really no RULE against telling any one person which story is yours, as long as they can keep it to themselves. It's a FRIENDLY contest, after all. :)

I used all my words. I also suspect readers will recognize my style tho the category is different for me. The plot is fairly clever but sarcastic, and the ending is a surprise you don't see coming.
