We keep saying we're going to go to Hawaii  ... and we keep ending up in Utah.

Oh well, kids need to see his parents once a year.

Mine is popular with the ladies too (when we hit Vegas and the pool). When ya got the physic to pull off spedo's... le sigh. Unfortunately, after two kids I can't do the bikini thing any more.

Yeah I know just what you mean!

I can't afford Hawaii for four right now.

Mine does the speedo thing too! I LOVE it!

This was this hottie guy running around in these super long jams yesterday. He seemed to be trying to show off. Truthfully, I didn't even notice the color of his hair, I was looking at his abs but anyway, I wanted to pull him aside and tell him super long jams are lame, if you have it flaunt it!!!

I love confidence, arrogance and/or cockiness not quite so much.

My husband said he was showing off for me. LOL! I said maybe the guy was showing off for him! *snicker*

He did put on a show!

I won't wear a bikini either. Not usually! I did once this trip. I also wore what I call my pretzel suit, the fav of my love and my stripper suit. The great thing about being this age? LOTS of suits!!! My kids were like how come you have sooooo many suits??? We only have two? Well duh! Y'all keep out growing yours! Stop growing so fast and you can build up an inventory of suits too!

I want to go everywhere! I just can't afford it. *grumble*

Also I had a GREAT first night writing a good bit on my wanna be novel but then my lap top went all wonky. *major pouting*

Anyway, most of this pics were taken with a good margarita in me. Made with fresh squeezed limes, Jose Cuervo and all icy slushfied. One great thing about my stupid sinus meds is I FEEL that one drink! Woot!

Not at all! Help yourself! I'm so glad you like them!

These were done with the new rather expensive digital cam I bought my husband in June. So easy to use, such great shots, I LOVE this toy!!!

Thanks Joe!

It's great to be back. That was really the end of the spout!

That's a beautiful picture Furry! I hope you're enjoying (will enjoy) your vacation!

Thanks Tealsphynx!

I'm glad you like the shot! I did enjoy it, most of the time! That even though a great deal of things did not go as I planned or wanted.

Now it's back to work for two weeks during which I have quite a few gigs! I'll enjoy that too. Also have to get ready to do the whole Orlando thing at the end of those two weeks. The bonus for me will be the "private pool" at the house I am renting. Boy, do I have plans for that spot of liquid!

Beach Book Report of 2005.

I just got back from the beach where I read for fun and enjoyed doing that!

First I started with Immortal Bad Boys, which I had started before I left home. It is by Rebecca York and others. The title blurb is "When it comes to pleasure, these guys can go one forever..." Basically it's three short stories about vamps who CAN get busy in a carnal way, a romancy sort of thing but nice since I am trying to write teasing sizzle right now. I usually jump straight into the hard core stuff when I write so I'm trying to stretch my skills a bit.

Next I read The Fifth Harmonic by F. Paul Wilson. Each year I find something of his that I enjoy at the beach. Last year it was Midnight Mass, the year before that it was Sims. The first book I ever read by him was The Keep. He writes in a bunch of genres and I like him though my husband does not.

This book is about healing and also delves into Mayan culture which I found fascinating and rather serendipitous because my kids just did a project and report on that for Home School.

Having been through a serious illness with my Dad who believed more than I would have thought possible, the conclusion of this book was a little hard to swallow but oh how I wish it could be so.

After that I hit Undead and Unappreciated by Mary Janice Davidson. It is a third book in the series that is a Buffy is the vampire queen sort of thing. It makes me laugh. I love that!

Last I read Smoke and Mirrors by Tanya Huff. It's a haunted house book with a gay protagonist who is involved with a vamp. Yes I am obsessed with vamps! It was good for me though the cover art is disturbing to me. Icky!

Meanwhile my husband read the latest Harry Potter which he liked a great deal. He also read Eleven On Top by Janet Evanovich. A series about a bumbling female bounty hunter that makes us both laugh. Has these great off the wall characters in it and after the third book, some good sex and lots of action. Personally I would chose Ranger if I where the lead character and I had to chose. Both Morelli and Ranger would be even better!!!

And that is my beach book report of 2005.

Notes from the beach trip...

On being white: When did this happen? When I did I go from having olive skin to being so white I can't stand it? Get this, the first day I actually made it out to the beach this year, my husband who had TONS of admirers at the beach this year, was accosted by this wrinkled leather piece of death. I mean a very nice lady I'm sure, who is clearly an enthusiastic sun worshiper. Anyway she says, "Hon your wife is going git all burnt up she's so white."

He told her that I would not. My goodness doesn't make you feel all warm a cozy to know folks care? LOL! Now wisely he didn't bother to tell me this until much later in the week. He says he did tell her that I never burn partially because we use Bullfrog sun block liberally.

But damn when did I go from being olive skinned to sooooo white and has anyone else here had a such a pigment change? Ain't life strange? I remember as a kid we had no sun block and no one used anything but oil to cook! I never burned. I just turned brown as a berry. Those were the days! My husband likes me white. I like me dark and most folks dark but that's the beauty in life, people like different things.

While there I experimented with using lube every night after shaving. It really, really made that whole bikini area much nicer so that will continue.

Once upon a time I was a stay at home wife and mom. At the beach I would talk with a lot of folks. I was lil miss social. I guess my husband liked that but he mostly didn't talk to anyone. One year after I started working again, I talked to practically no one. In fact, I was so stressed out, I was loathed to talk at all. That made him nuts!

Later I figured out what had happened. First I was now a local celebrity and tired of being one so I just wanted to be left alone. Second our kids had reached an age where I didn't need to make friends for them to play with on the beach. Finally I was just needing to be quiet and serene. So that continues and he is the social one now. LOL! Life sure is funny!

The first day we got there it was already close to sunset because we had a bit of a long drive. After getting to our favorite condo unit, we immediately dropped everything and went out on the lovely wrap around deck. The winds were gusting up to 35 miles an hour. This made the apparently hallow metal railings sing and bang in a huge racket that was somewhat eerie.

Our unit was on the sixth floor of a seven floor building. Back at the car, the wind was blowing sand and other things around in a fury that was impressive. I was just glad to be there. The truth was I wasn't feeling terribly well. I had some sinus problems and felt like I was bleeding internally a little.

We watched the sunset while we ate. It was magnificent. That alone is one of the prime reasons I go to that unit because it faces the sun set. The kids set up their play stations and what not.

I had arranged things so we had enough food with us to eat that night and the next morning. So I unpacked, ate and went to bed. Husband and kids braved the storm and took a walk on the beach I was just not up for.

That night I hooked up the computer but had no Internet. I happily wrote on my novel for a while then did some business bookkeeping before reading myself to sleep.

It was nice to be at the beach hearing that eerie wind feeling it toss us around out on the deck a bit. It reminded me of when I was young and would take an umbrella on windy days then find tall things to jump off of so I could feel like I was flying a bit. That was a good start to our trip. Then it began to rain. Such a storm was magnificent to behold. The only thing missing was the sheet lightning that I love to watch roll in. Nature's fireworks usually come to us at least once at the beach and we all enjoy it.

(Drinking a hot toddy so here I hope this makes some sense.)

Random notes from the beach trip.

The first time I went down for a walk along the beach with my husband, I couldn't breathe well. I kept coughing and tears flowed until I admitted defeat and went back inside. Later I found out about a Red Tide that can make it hard for people to breathe if they have asthma and such.

I told my kids that they needed to bring only four things.

1. Water in a bottle or other container for the trip in the car in case they got thirsty.

2. A swim suit.

3. A swim towel.

4. Any personal hygiene stuff they might need, from deodorant to sanitary napkins.

My daughter did very well and I think she brought everything but I did not watch them pack or make them prove what they packed to me. My son brought his play station two, his entire catalogue of DVD's and games but the ONLY thing on the list he brought was his deodorant and he brought it without a cap so it squirted out and got on everything. *grr*

Fortunately for him the next day was filled mostly with rainstorms and Walmart had a cheep swimsuit. The rest he had to do without. NO HAIR GEL for a week! He he!

The rainy day was a good one to catch up on some body action with the husband.

Get this on our relaxing beach trip he sets an alarm every damn day! Eek!

Why?

So he can make the "cholesterol death breakfast " and hit the beach early enough to make a sand castle. I tend to roll back over until the smell of Godiva coffee and or my bladder pulls me up.

That first day was also a great day for playing poker, black jack and gin. My kids love doing that and we make the cheetos, chips or oreos the money! Woot!

Has anyone ever tried to teach their kid to use a tampon? It's not as easy as you might think.

LOL Better you than me. Their are instructions on the back of the box, you know. Along with pictures. Either that or do what my mom did - give her a pad.

Ah but you see we were at the beach! Poor child.

Stupidly I let her pack them so cleverly in a plastic bag to take up less space. So no box and no instructions. It never even occured to me this would be a difficult thing for her to learn.

I learned it from a roommate in high school. Someone I had only known a few days. We were both at a college in our state, chosen for a special journalism workshop. Great week for me.

Crazy stuff happened that week but anyway, my girl, she sometimes decides she "just doesn't get it," and that is all she wrote.

It was kind of comical if it hadn't made me feel like a terrible mom and teacher but there ya go.

The talks were interesting too. Things like, "Honey? Have you ever put, anything in there? Say a finger?"

"How about this? I go get some lube?"

Lord help me.

Thanks beautiful Graceanne!

The things we Mom's have to do eh?

Fury :rose:

Yep. I'm still getting over the trauma of 'the talk'. Just the thought of having to teach her how to put in a tampon . . . well my heart goes out to you.

For me the talk was a breeze compared to this. I was ready, she was ready, I had the bananas and the condoms. Had a book for her.

But it seems she really wasn't ready for this and I wasn't either!

One other note about the beach. I found that if I have the time and less stress I can write on my novel again. I can climb back in my protagonists skin and tell her story. Too bad the damn lap top died! *grr* Maybe next year.

So I will be off again bright and early Saturday October 15. I hope everyone has a great week! Here are some pictures my son took with a disposable camera when he was in 2nd grade of various things in and around Orlando and Kissimmee. I thought he had a great eye. He suprised me.

Hopefully we will have some more great pictures when we get back!
