Funky but Chic

David Johannsen, who now goes by the name Buster
Poindexter, did an album called Funky But Chic. You might remember it? It got a bunch of airplay in New York, as David was in the New York Dolls, a kind of a cult N.Y. band at the time.

Does anyone have an MP3 version of Funky but chic? I can't find it.

Man, I haven't heard that in a good twenty-three years or so. Takes me back to the old days on the Bowery in the late '70s. But I think Johannsen used the name Buster Poindexter then too. I sometimes use that phrase ("funky, but chic") but no one ever gets the reference.

I liked "Frenchette" too; that was the Dolls, wasn't it?
