Just a thought...

When sending a PM to another Litland user, you can save space in your mailbox by UNCHECKING the Save a copy option at the bottom of your private message screen. Save only those messages that you really want a copy of.

Hope this helps :)

Hey Laurel

As one of the more common offending people in this regard, I was wondering.

Can you add a display onto the PM screen that tells how close we are getting to filling up our PM space?

This small reminder would help me keep mine cleaned up and might even save ya'll some disk space.

At the bottom of the main forum index -- http://www.literotica.com/forum/index.php?s= -- there is a summary of your PM status. Just hit END to go to the bottomof the page when you first login and it will tell you "You have 0 new message(s) since your last visit.
(You have 0 unread messages and 0 total messages in all your folders.)"

If the last number is anywhere close to 100, you're getting close to a full PM box. In fact, since the limit is one hundred, the last number is the percentage used of your PM box.

Oh! :( Now don't I feel stupid!

P.S. Is there somewhere I could have looked to tell me that the limit is 100? Maybe it should be made more obvious for us stupid people?

Doesn't the size of the messages matter? They can go up to 100 even if they're really really long?

Size of message

DP

It's not the size of the message that counts. It's what you do with it!

Octavian's flippant response is essentially correct. To the best of my knowledge, the limit is 100 posts without regard to size. There is a limit to the size of PMs (I'm gussing thesame as the 250,000 character limit on BB posts), so that there is an effective storage limit of about 2,500,000 characters or about 2.4 MB/user. FWIW, the character count includes spaces and hard carriage returns or paragraph breaks.

What? With that Avatar you don't get PMs?

Would you like to? (best dirty old man laugh here)

BigTexan

I never get them either

I probably should delete the ones I have... I keep the five or six I've gotten just so my PM box isn't empty.

hmm should i own up that i have 40 PMs sitting in here somewhere? rofl now if i could just discover where the hell they all are ;)

Weird Harold!!!! HARD CARRIAGE RETURNS omg! i love it when you talk dirty *giggling* ;)

you're right with the limit on postings... not sure about PMs yet... i waffle a lot but haven't discovered a limit in that area as yet. though i have upset a few full mail box holders so maybe i've waffled just a little too much ;)

You 40 PMs are probably older than the "disply from" setting -- choose "from the beginning" and they should all show up. Messages in your inbox and sent messages folders count against the total, but tracked messages do NOT count against your 100 PMs.

I checked via the "[check message length]" link under a PM text box, and it tells me that the limit for PMs is only 100,000 characters.

100,000 characters! wow i must have come pretty close to that at times. ;)

okay i'm understanding... now can you explain please what a tracked message is?

You can track a message i.e see if the recipient has read it or not by clicking on the last option beneath your pm box which says : Request Read Receipt: Allows you to check whether your message has been read by the recipient. By checking this, you can track the message you're currently sending.

You can check this tracked message by going to '>> message tracking' from your inbox. It is shown as a separate folder along with 'inbox', 'sent items' and any other folders you might have made.
