Fucking Economy

Today was one of the hardest days of my life. I had to fire 25 people who have worked for me for years, some as long as 24 years. They had all worked hard, done what was asked and never complained. That's fucking Corporate America...have to make the numbers. With this fucking economy, there was no choice. I had to reduce expenses and it fucking hurts. Hurts like hell!!! They all have families, needs, aspirations.

I'm sorry for the downer, but I had to fucking get this off my chest. I hate being the bad guy. All I can say is, this part of the job sucks!

Thanks Mona, it's great to be able to vent and have friends like you empathize.

After a couple of stiff drinks, everything will be better.

I'll join you on the stiff drinks. I am sorry you had to go through that today.

*caresses your forehead as you lay your head in my lap*

many hugs, tn.

I wish it were easier for you and them.

Just wish I could do more.

I always had a hard time firing people, even though they always deserved it.

I can't imagine how you feel, but here, have a glass of wine with me?

Did they get ins extentions?
Severance pay??

If they did, then at least they have a bit of time to get on their feet again.

DOnt feel bad. I know it sucks. Its not you out trying to be mean.

MAybe everyone in the office can take up a little collection to help.

Yes, we gave them severance and insurance benefit extensions. Plus, I'm offering outplacement services, resume service, etc.

I'll do whatever I have to for them to get on with their lives.

Thanks for caring.

It sucks big time. The entity I am with has been axing and hammering for, oh, 18-months.

I've had to deliver the fun news. I'd rather have a coffee enema.

The fucking economy is fucking a lot of people on a global basis...

I'm sure they appreciate everything that you're doing for them.
Life is tough, especially right now. I'm sure they understand, although it sucks that it happened to 'em, so don't beat yourself up over it.

I'll bring the Smirnoff.

What are friends for then Jim? We need to be there for each other, to help each other. I feel like I let you down, haven't I come to you lately when I was down, worried about finding a job, and my cancer too. You were there for me, my friend, and you should allow your friends do the same for you! Please don't ever shut out your friends! OK?

hugs & kisses

Hi honey, haven't heard from you in a while. Thanks for caring. I just finished a couple of shooters and I am listening to some country music right now.

It's great to have all of the Lit community to support us.  :rose:

You've got lots of people out here who will listen. Some of us have been on both sides of your dilemma today - the messenger and the receiver of the news. Venting is good - and it's clear you care about those people you had to fire. Shooters are good, too, but I think venting is more of permanent remedy. Make sure those people you let go know how you feel.
