I've just written nearly 1000 words of new story before realising I'd wanted it to be omniscient narrator, but I'd written the first 1000 words in first person.

I now have to go change it all to third person.
ARRRRRRRRRGH.

I also realised that I have reverted to my old problem of switching tense, so I have to correct all that, too.

Is it just me, or does everyone do stoopid stuff like this?

I edit a lot of tense corrections. *grin*

You're not the only one.

*cough* This is *cough* the first time I've *cough* known of someone who did that.

Both the narrator and the tense.

*cough*

(What? I'm sick. I can cough. )

Yep.

Had to change POV after writing 14,000 words of one story; posted a story that gave the hero three different names; changed tenses and narrators in a single paragraph...

That's what editing is about, but even Homer nods...

I've just spent the last few hours correcting POV. **shudder**

I tense swap alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the time.

which is part of why I *hate* editing.

I do the POV switch once in a while-- sometimes it leads to better re-writing, as you go over the paragraphs. It definitely takes time. This may explain why I haven't published anything in about a year...

Oh yeah.

I have tense problems all the time. It's due to my weird Zen mindset. Often then is now for me. ;)

I have had different POVs in stories. but I meant to do them that way. And people liked them.

yay.
Finished the editing - all changed to third person narrative now.
<sigh>
just have to advance the story...

If I could just get past the meeting and into the audition I'll be happy...
c'mon on Mils - crack that whip!

Like Damon Runyon-- everything is now, even what is happening yesterday.

Years ago, I am thinking about writing a story in the Runyon style-- full of guys and dolls, and Mindy's beef goulash. :cathappy:

Here I'll crack it for you since I've been told I'd make a great switch  :D ;)

I repeat because I am stuck

and it;s on something silly.

I need a name for my male lead.

I am kinda basing him on someone called Tom, so I need a name that's... similar in feeling... help.

Tim :)

I started a story a few weeks ago and changed from first to third person, back and forth, three or four times. There were advantages to writing it both ways. I finally got discouraged and chucked the whole thing. Still haven't gone back to it.
