Hey CT, just be happy for the porposes, K?

;)

thanks for the warning, it hasn't started out here yet, and I would've missed it.

I saw the producer of this documentary on the Oreilly factor the other night then caught the whole program last night.It was quite interesting,But for some reason I felt sad for the people by the end of the program. While I have watched my share of porn I found the segment where the members of the documentary crew were filming the filming of a rape scene disturbing, as a matter of fact the documentary crew stopped there cameras and left the building, the producer of the porn film admitted that the women was truly being hit and forced<with her consent>.So my question, Is porn like a drug, in that what used to be exciting isnt and to get to the same level of excitement does one need to watch more extreme acts of sex/violence?

I think to some extent this is true. Mostly it's about shock value, and a little about being taboo.

Once you get used to the same old thing, it doesn't feel naughty anymore, and you just want to go one step further.

I've gone through this before, and I truly believe I was addicted to porn (says the girl posting on the porn board :rolleyes: )

I didn't get to watch the whole segment, I kept getting bored and running in here to play on the PC.

<shrugs>

I watched the first half of the show and it wasn't that surprising -- porn is in hotels, porn makes a lot of money on the net, porn is everywhere. Big deal. Then I got a phone call and missed the rest.

I think they missed the big story though. Sure, mainstream porn is just a rather bland business and it's legal, but what goes on on the fringes, with international sites and all that, it's scary.

What's to stop some depraved bastard in some third world backwater from charging perverts to watch truly awful and illegal horrifying acts? Nothing, and this is the stuff I think the FBI focuses on, or should focus on, and Frontline should have too.

Wiggles, sorry I didn't get to you but see you found it allright.

Baron, you're very welcome.

Jaded1, LOL, you and your porpoises!

bored 1, you've posed a good question. Are we becoming desensitized? Yes, I think so. Let's face it, it used to be that if a man got a glimpse of a ladies ankle, he'd get a boner!

What I think disturbed the crew (and me) the most was when they went over the top with depicting the girl having her throat slit, lying in a pool of blood, butchered. That is NOT what porn is about, in my mind anyway. That is pure D EXTREMISM and a total turn off.

Weird Harold, thanks for the link. Must go take a look to see what they're up to now. What with the HC 7 Bill,( I think that's what it's called. If anyone knows, please let me know, I want to research this) designed to turn our tax dollars over to special interest church groups to set policy, nothing will surprise me. These are very scary times indeed.

Just got done watching it, I missed about the first 20 minutes. What the second half of the show focused on was renewed attempts by the Bush administration to shut down porn. Porn basically had a free ride during the Clinton years, which is one of the few things Clinton did right, IMHO, but let's not get sidetracked on that one...Janet Reno basically said that her justice department decided to prioritize it's resources, and bringing obscenity prosecutions was low priority. Good for Janet...too bad she had to kill all those folks in Waco. Ooops! Said I wasn't gonna go there...sorry!

Back to the porn...

One of Ashcroft's first meetings was with former prosecuters of anti-porn cases. He wanted their input concerning how they successfully prosecuted these cases. Ashcroft seems to have made the war against porn one of his top priorities, and the older pornographers like Larry Flynt are taking a "lay-low" approach, while the younger guys in the industry are willing to fight the court battles.

LA county is getting ready to prosecute Seymour Butts (anyone seen his movies?) over an anal fisting film. As Seymour (Adam Glasser) put it, oh so succinctly, "people have been sticking their digits inside other people on film for years, but when you add a thumb it becomes illegal all of the sudden."

Seymour has a good point...who determines what's obscene? Twenty years ago Larry Flynt would have been thrown in jail for showing a facial in his magazine, and now my Penthouse has one in it every month...sometimes two.

Ashcroft might crank up the war on porn and have a few successes while he's in office, but like the war on drugs it's a losing battle. They're both too ingrained in our society, and the effort to eliminate them is far worse than the vices themselves.

Motherfucking cocksuckers

I'm not going to list the growing number of "threats to our society" these fucktards should be concentrating on.

Typical government.

Reminds me of the never ending attempt by the various police agencies patrol the highways and ticket speeders instead of concentrating on the real cause of accidents (drunk diving, fucknozzles behind the wheel, etc.)

Bottom line in both cases, they are easier to catch.

People love porn. Ashcroft can go to hell.

American Porn

Baron,

I understand your point and fear of sleazy individuals doing dirty deeds in remote corners of the world. Yes, it would be a HUGE story, but this was, after all, "Porn in America". It did have segments that were far from bland. Maybe that's when your phone rang and you missed it?

Frontline SHOULD do a follow-up going beyond the borders of the U.S. You wanna tell them or do you want me to? ;)

Great point, Baron.

Weird Harold,

Thanks again for the link. I enjoyed the article. It said that the show didn't touch on why people became involved in porn. Are they kidding? We all know, and the actors admitted, they're in it for the money! DUH! Well, except for the guy who said he just liked to watch his wife perform naked.

And what the hell was that part that selling porn was like selling *@!# cheese?! Couldn't they have used a different term, like um, whipped cream? honey? um something!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
btw all, KM started a thread a while back on an article she read about the European Council clamping down on Yahoo! and what it can and cannot sell on it's site. It's worth a look. Last I looked, I think I was the only one to respond. But you should check out what she said and the question she posed.
Problem Child.....EXACTLY! Everything you said! The war on porn and drugs is a hopeless, revenue-draining idiotic venture. But that's what the extreme rightists love doing best, isn't it.
All for the love of God and country. Jesus, it makes me sick. I wish everything was legal. Prostitution, drugs, marijuana (notice I didn't lump it in with drugs 'CAUSE IT'S NOT!!) everthing but carrying handguns.
*running from the room before KM finds out and shoots my ass*
Miles
LMAO....You tell 'em dammit! I know! They're running around like a bunch of damn idiots wasting our tax dollars to pay their sorry asses while they're busting people for growing or smoking a little pot. Meanwhile, the murderers, pedophiles, etc., are getting away scot free because there's not enought manpower to seek them out. When, as you said, Miles, the real reason is, it's easier and less dangerous to bust the benign pot grower/seller/smoker. Well, get the damn focus off victimless crimes and wake the fuck up!
ahem... now where was I? Oh yes!
"Butterfly! Two mint juleps, please, out here on the front veranda!"
"besides, I'll think about that tomorrow."
*fanning myself to keep from falling in your arms* :)
20/20 pr 60 minutes ( don't remember which ) did a segment on sex on the net about a couple who did live webcam sex stuff from their home. All said and done, they recently sold the site for $6 million if I recall correctly. :eek:
Sidenote--
Watch the board Republicans scramble as it becomes painfully obvious what having a Republican president means to their vices. They become more expensive and elusive. What a kink!
Marxist
You do know I'm not a republican, marx, and didn't vote for either Bush or Gore.
But I will say this - if I had to choose between the two, I'd vote for Bush in a heartbeat. Despite his anti-abortion and anti-porn rhetoric, there isn't a chance in hell Roe v. Wade will ever be reversed by any Supreme Court. And there is little they can do to wipe out porn. There is far too much demand in the marketplace for them to touch it. And yes, even Republicans like porn.
Miles,
This board doesn't have Republicans. Not a one. It only has people that would vote for Bush in deference to someone they perceive as Liberal. Who needs Republicans as long as Republicans win?
Would you accept a recently former Republican who is now a Libertarian? :)
I am a republican because I am a conservative and conservatives are only represented by republicans in this area of the country. Our independents are pretty much libertarians or whacked.
Do you know the difference between a conservative and a liberal? A conservative wants less government and a liberal wants more government. This is all in the form of social programs and laws that are intrusive into the family. A libertarian wants no government beyond military, police, and other necessary services.
Aschroft is not a conservative, though he's a republican. He wants to protect children from pornography by doing the parent's job. Get rid of porn and kids can't get porn. Works well for drugs, doesn't it?
I still stand by Bush. I'm glad he's our president over Gore because otherwise, we'd be fucked up the ass with Deb's dildo, in my view. Ashcroft is the biggest mistake in politics. He sucked in Missouri and he sucks where he's at now. I want the man gone because he wants more government.
The government has no right to tell me what I can or cannot purchase. It has no right to tell me what I can or cannot use. It has no right to define obscenity for me because that's a value judgement. It has no right to tell me how to take care of my children. It has no right to tell me how to live my life. Ashcroft crosses that line. He's no better than Joseph McCarthy or Himmler.
Now, where did Kat go? I have my Supersoaker 3000 loaded down with chocolate sauce.
I think it's more like a conservative believes that government will make things worse, and a liberal believes government can make things better. That's why I get conservative when the government wants to intrude into what I can read or watch or smoke. How does that help?
Aschroft is not a conservative, though he's a republican. He wants to protect children from pornography by doing the parent's job. Get rid of porn and kids can't get porn. Works well for drugs, doesn't it?
Maybe it would be easier to get rid of children. (Just kidding, mostly.)
I still stand by Bush. I'm glad he's our president over Gore because otherwise, we'd be fucked up the ass with Deb's dildo, in my view.
Will 43 be able to stand up to the right-wingers though? It seems Powell was able to make his case for the Geneva Convention thing, but that's probably because the military was already doing what come naturally, in this case, playing by the rules.
Ashcroft is the biggest mistake in politics. He sucked in Missouri and he sucks where he's at now. I want the man gone because he wants more government.
I'm glad Ashcroft is covering up statues too, it was really distracting looking at Justice's tit with Ashcrofts head blocking her box.
Why am I expecting the term "degenerate art" to be heard soon.
