How do people here feel about writing their real-life friends into characters in their stories who are directly involved in sex or fetishes. I'm not talking about borrowing traits to make composite characters. I'm talking about taking the whole person and implanting them in an erotic fantasy. I know there's tonnes of people here who have thought about their friends in a sexual context, and I'm wondering how many of us actually wrote it up as a story. How did you feel about it a month or a year later. Are you still friends with them? Is it awkward facing them after the story got published? Please tell me all about it.
FYI: yes, I do have a friend I'm thinking about writing. Reaching out here to gauge the baggage that will/might come with it.

Change names and vague up details - I suspect it happens all the time. I know it does in my world - people I know taken into fantasy/fictional worlds, either directly or indirectly.

Assuming they don't know your Lit pseudonym, and on the basis that "Janey your next door neighbour" isn't her real name and you don't spell out the street name and the town you both live in, how is the other person ever going to know?

And if they do read something and think, "Gee, that could be me," they're reading in the same category as you're writing in, so hey! I mean, you're writing fetish stories about Guatemalan tunnelling rats, and Janey's reading about that - something in common, right?

Many of my story characters are based on people I think I know. Friends, foes, celebs, passersby -- they're there to twist. Some are real people in stories with only a name change. I may merge several folks into one player, or break one into fragments. Some are extrapolated -- what could have happened, if...??

Friends, family, acquaintances, promenaded figures -- all are raw material.

Most of my stories are true and the people are real. I did change one name only because another guy has the same name. I only use first names. In case, the guy is real but we never actually had sex. Other details are real though.

I find that I can't write stories based on people I know well. The real person 'wouldn't' do that...

But people I see in the street or know to say 'hello' to? They can be an inspiration e.g.

Why did she marry him?

Why are they walking hand in hand when they are married to other people? (Answer: she's his wife's best friend in the middle of a messy divorce, and needs help to keep her act together.)

Why is she smiling and he scowling?

I've only used one real person (Fag-Ash_Lil) in my stories almost exactly as she was because she was so distinctive in her behaviour in jeanne_d_artois' story Unatit. The real person is long dead.

I’m not sure you’re going to get the answer you want here. Do we do this? Yes. Have I done this? Yes. To what degree, what story and whom I won’t say, but if the person involved has read it then I am sure they are able to see themselves as the character.

If you’re worried about the fall out it seems like you should talk with the friend in question. It really becomes a matter of 1) do they know you write porn, 2) do they know your username 3) do they read your work. If the answer to those is yes then it seems they might be open minded to begin with and their response may surprise you.

If the answer to those is no, then I’m not sure it’s an issue at all aside from whatever moral predilections you have about the matter.

Yup. I write friends ( online and offline from the real world) into my stories. I’ve even went as far as to write my most loyal fan on this site and her girlfriend into a couple of chapters of one of my stories. What I steer clear of is using their last name.

I haven't done this. I have used real-life incidents and encounters with acquaintances as the inspiration for story ideas, and sometimes I have written female characters with past girlfriends in mind, especially physical traits, but I haven't transferred an entire friend into one my stories wholesale. None of my stories are based closely on real-life incidents.

I do have friends, and indeed professional contacts and students, who feature in my masturbation fantasies. That kind of fantasy stays within my head though; these people have their own lives and their own relationships and I am really not in the business of disrupting those lives and relationships. That wouldn't stop me letting me allow that person to inspire my erotic writing but I would always make sure I changed names and recognisable traits in the characters I create.

I have three stories here with real people in them, friends to be exact. two are dead and the third still, after all these years, won't sit on my chaise lounge. :D Well, she asked me to write a story for her and I did.

I've found that even if I start a character with a real person in mind, the version I write quickly takes on his or her own persona. It may be similar to my friend, but it's never an exact replica. Your mileage may vary, but that's how it works for me.

The players I base on people I think I know are really shells into which I pour whatever the story demands, often unbridled lust with certain kinks, and then manipulate for the plot. I am the puppeteer. The puppets may look real but ha ha, it's all illusion.

I've done this, more with female friends than with male friends. That's possibly because I know them better, and have actually talked with them about their sex lives when they brought the subject up. Of course, by the time they've become characters in my stories, they've been so changed that they probably wouldn't recognize themselves.

For that matter, I base some of those female characters on myself, or on some aspect of myself. It gets tiresome when a commenter assumes that I am just like the character in the story, with all her lusts and quirks, but I suppose that that comes with the territory, particularly if the reader is male and projecting his erotic fantasies on the author.

I may base one of my male characters on somebody I know, but I'm usually just borrowing the outward form rather than their personalities.

I must warn you: I am a writer. Anything you say or do may be taken down and used. :)

I've written an autiographical episode and posted it here, but changed the names of all involved since I can't ask most of them for perrmission anymore.

A lot of my characters are based on people I've met but didn't really know. For example, this story came from a real aqua-aerobics class I attended where there really was a woman thusly adorned. (Of course, everything after they get on the elevator is pure fantasy...but I felt blessed just for spending the time with her in the pool that I did!)
