When my wife and I had returned home from our shopping expedition today, and had dried off and warmed up, we decided we needed something to eat. We wanted something warm.

I looked in the fridge and saw the eggs sitting there. Oh yeah. I started getting things ready.

A large Fry Pan, a couple of eggs, bread and spices as well as some cheese. Yep I was ready. I was also hungry and not willing to sit around waiting.

I grabbed a couple of cups and cracked two eggs into each one. I used a fork to break the yolks, but I didn't mix them. Into each cup I sprinkled some Garlic Powder and a dash or three of Texas Pete Hot Sauce.

I dropped a bit of Bacon Grease into the fry pan and turned on the heat. When the grease had melted I swirled it around then poured in one cup of egg. I swirled this around so it covered the entire bottom of the non stick pan and then let it cook. (This is a ten inch skillet by the way.) It took all of a minute for the egg to start sizzling and harden. I flipped it with the spatula and added the Cheese. (Pepper Jack.) I cooked it until the cheese started melting then slid it out of the skillet onto the first slice of toast. As the skillet cooled away from the heat I folded the hard fried egg so it fit on the toast then added the second piece of toast.

I did the same to the second cup of eggs and soon we both had our fried egg sandwich to munch on.

Talk about a simple yet tasty sandwich. (Not to mention slightly filling.) Not to mention cheap. Eggs, are $1.39 a dozen, or $0.12 each. Bread is at $1.39 a loaf or roughly $0.06 a slice. Cheese is roughly $2.00 a package or $0.10 a slice. Garlic and Hot Sauce I buy in bulk and it's hard to measure just how much you use. We're talking a sandwich the way I make it costs maybe $0.46 each.

I just had dinner 2 hrs ago and reading about those sandwiches makes me drool. :D

I love grilled cheese and bacon sandwiches...with a big bowl of tomato soup, lots of potato chips and cups of tea...now that's eatin'.

OMG, a fried egg sandwich! I used to eat those all the time. I loved them. I haven't had one, though, in years. My family thinks they're weird, I don't know why.

Mmmm....I could eat fried egg sandwiches every single day and be happy. (I also LOVE grilled cheese sandwiches made with italian bread, real butter, and tomato).
I did this when I was pregnant 27 yrs ago and am still allergic to eggs to this day! I would so dearly love to eat a fried egg sandwich. I craved them when I was pregnant and ate so many eggs (egg sandwiches and hardboiled) that the doctor said my body overdosed on them and the allergy was my body's way of telling me,"ENOUGH"! Even now, i can't be in the same room when they are being cooked!

Eggs are inexpensive protein and excellent for a variety of dishes.

I keep a few boiled eggs in the fridge for when I want a quick & filling bite to eat, usually with a sliced tomato and a few pickles. Not many calories, either.

Or you can make French Toast.

Or an omellette-burrito.

Disagree. The liquid yoke flowing all through the toast and over the ham and cheese is what makes a fried egg sandwich special. It's gotta be gooey!
