Ode To Joy - Beethoven/Schiller

Freude, schöner Götterfunke, Tochter aus Elysium,
wir betreten feuertrunken, Himmlische, dein Heiligtum!
Deine Zauber binden wieder, was die Mode streng geteilt

What a great piece of classical music indeed. (And I'm not too much of a classicical lover) And I even understand the words. :p

And then there are others as well that even I know and like:

- O Fortuna - Orff
- Pictures of an exhibition (esp. The Great Gate of Kiev)
- Dies Irae - Mozart

Care to join more for me to discover ???

I know all the words to Ode to Joy (and in German). I had to learn it for one of my school's concerts. I've never forgotten it, it is an amazing piece.

Hey sweet Lou (you know, there could be country songs called like that :p )

That's really cool, did you have to sing ? Can you sing ? Or just recite it ?
I think you rock, girl. (Trying to imagine a sexy little accent when you try and speak german, :) )

Yep, I sang it. I was part of the "Alto" section of the choir. I never did have a high angelic voice.

I'm singing it now. :D

I speak a fair bit of German, actually. I did it for three years at school. My brother is fluent. He's a German teacher in a sixth form college over here.

P.S. Please don't ask me to type any!!!

I won't, I promise.

That's cool, your brother must be an ace if he's even a teacher for german. I suppose it's rather a difficult language to learn.

Oh, and singing woman are always sexy, whether they have a high or low voice. :)

Suggestions:

1. Many of Schubert's Lieder (songs) including:

Die schone Mullerin.

I prefer the version with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau accompanied by Gerald Moore.

There are dozens for female voice.

2. Mozart's Exsultate, Jubilate for soprano, orchestra and organ

Og

PS. I was a boy treble. When my voice broke it didn't stop until I was a bass.

I'm not much into classical singing, probably because I am always banned to sing with the bariton section. :D
And can you believe it, after I quit smoking it's even worse.

But if we're talking classics, how about Händel's Wasser Musik. I love that.

And yes, Moessorgski, the Kiev Gate is good, but I like the Night on the Bald Mountain (is that correct?) better.

Tschaikovsky, Piano Concerto and Berlioz, Symphonie Fantastique are two other favorites.
