Freinds Reunited - is it me, or is it cr*p?

What I want to do is to contact someone from Edinburgh University.

First problem: there are umpteen synonyms and no way I can find of concatenating them, so though she might be in one group, I've no way of telling which one.

Second problem: I know what she was called back then, but she's probably married and so changed her name. I can't find any way to search by maiden name.

Does anyone know how to work this thing, or is it just a load of cr*p?

If you enter the maiden name in the search fields, it should still find the person. Has for me anyway, tracking an old school friend who has been through three names sinces then.

If Friends Reunited fails, try Facebook. You can search for people who went to a specific school in a specific year, search for people with mutual friends etc... so it's a good resource if the first doesn;t work.

It does work - eventually.

I was trying to find out what happened to my first girlfriend. I knew she had married but didn't know her married name because that was many years after we split up.

I had searched for her several times.

Suddenly Friends Reunited sent me an email to say she had updated her entry - and included her married name.

I haven't found my first fiancée, but I have found my second. She has had an eventful life but now seems happy in her third marriage...
