VicMan's Photo Editor v7.0 [4.8MB] W9X/NT/W2K/XP

http://www.photo-editor.net

For photo editing beginners, or users who need basic tools to tweak their images, VicMan's Photo Editor remains a sensible solution. Built-in image enhancement functions make it easy to turn a photo into an artistic creation, from one of twenty file formats. Basics like resizing, cropping, color correction, and a variety of image transformations are included, along with the freeware collection Harry's Filters from Plugin Galaxy. The latest version includes support for Photoshop compatible filters, multiple brushes and gradients, and an improved rendering engine and interface. Scanning and printing are also built in. When you're ready for more features, an upgrade with GIF exports and cloning features is available.

Let me know if you find this useful.

Try GIMP

You'll need linux, but that's free too.
Gimp is available for Windows, without having to download Linux. I have it on my PC. It's not for beginners - you need prior experience as there are no help files.
But it's cool and efficient.

Dill, you have any advice for a higher end graphics program. I've been using Adobe Photoshop, but it's only the OEM version that came with one of my older Digital cameras. I'd like something a bit more powerful if one's available. Any advice?

PP, you're going to have to take your new camera down to the pub and get pictures of the whole gang and share them.

Unless you're willing to spend a great deal of money, PhotoShop or PhotoDeluxe are about as good as it gets.

The only thing that coms close, IMHO, is Paint Shop Pro from www.jasc.com -- it does some things better and easier than the Adobe products, and other things are more difficult. I personally prefer PainShop Pro, because it uses memory more efficiently and can handle bigger images and more image types.
