One of my favorite features in Photoshop is its layers tool. Let's say you're working on a logo with a circle, company name, and a picture of a book. Put the circle in one layer, company name in another, and the book in another. That way if you don't like the color of the book or the size, you can manipulate the book and not impact the other items. Oriens comes with layers capability.

This is a whopper of a [free] program for those who don't have Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro.

Bump this for others if you find it useful.

i have a question :)

when you use layers can people save the picture and it will still show the layers ?

when i did my censorship picture i made it layered first of all but then i thought i better not incase someone would somehow remove the layer :)

sadly s-g, you're graphic was safe form people being able to remoce the censored part, to see underneath.

you'd have to email me the layered file, in order for us to be able to see what's under there.

I mean, there's no way to post the "layered" version.

Thanks for the link- I'm downloading now. It looks like there may be other worthwhile stuff on the site.

Hmmm...OK then I'll have to blame you Dillinger...damnit.

I downloaded the program and set it up last night. I was going to go to bed, signed off of lit...then decided to play with it a tiny bit. Four hours later...I was deep into building my island when I noticed the time. I am operating on three hours sleep now.

Cool program for sure. Thanks. No really! Thank you.:D

Has anyone tried to save an image on this beta? My experience with freeware graphics proggies is you can manip images but cant save them for use......may not be the case here, but just wondrin.

Only if they have the version you send with the layers (in the progam format). Otherwise you're just sending them the "merged" version in whatever format you choose.

GIMP?

I haven't tried it because I have Photoshop, but it is available for Windows and Linux.

I'd like to have a freeware animated GIF program but this link appears to have met a terrible death.
