Motes! You know for a glosa? You want to find a mote? Come look here. Have an idea for a mote? Post it in this thread. The glosa is easy to write if you can find a mote that works for you. So give the glosa some love and give or take a mote.

And remember if you want to use lines from a poem posted at Lit, ask if they mind first. Most are happy to share as long as you attribute them the way you would any author whose mote you use. And if they aren't, you can always find another mote because they are free!

And if you have no idea what a mote or a glosa is, you can find out here and there

William Butler Yeats Motes

Once out of nature I shall never take
My bodily form from any natural thing,
But such a form as Grecian goldsmiths make
Of hammered gold and gold enameling
from Sailing to Byzantium

The cat went here and there
And the moon spun round like a top,
And the nearest kin of the moon,
The creeping cat, looked up.
from The Cat and the Moon

That crazed girl improvising her music.
Her poetry, dancing upon the shore,
from A Crazed Girl

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim Soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;
from When You Are Old

My dear, my dear, I know
More than another
What makes your heart beat so;
Not even your own mother
Can know it as I know
from To a Young Girl

This is the whole poem but it's only four lines.

A Challenge To The Dark
Charles Bukowski

shot in the eye
shot in the brain
shot in the ass
shot like a flower in the dance

More Bukowski

and she put her behind up in the air
and I used to sit in the window
and watch the sun shine all over that thing
while the music played
from A Radio With Guts

Bob Dylan Lyric Motes!

Up on the white veranda
She wears a necktie and a Panama hat
Her passport shows a face
From another time and place
from Black Diamond Bay

He sits in your room, his tomb, with a fist full of tacks
Preoccupied with his vengeance
Cursing the dead that can’t answer him back
I’m sure that he has no intentions
from Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window

Raspberry, strawberry, lemon and lime
What do I care?
Blueberry, apple, cherry, pumpkin and plum
Call me for dinner, honey, I’ll be there
from Country Pie

To dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free
Silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands
With all memory and fate driven deep beneath the waves
Let me forget about today until tomorrow
from Mr. Tambourine Man

Twilight on the frozen lake
North wind about to break
On footprints in the snow
Silence down below
from Never Say Goodbye
