Free energy (in a physics stylee)

Greetings Sir,

I am Ndweebwee Mbongwo, son of the late Free Energy Minister of the Republic of Tongo, and I am seeking you're aide to recover a significient some of moneys deposited by my father in a Swiss Bank...

:D You probably have a better chance cashing in on that than they do with their what-ever-it-is.

Is this supposed to be a perpetual motion machine? I only had a couple of courses in physics as an undergrad before studying pure math at the grad level, but from what little I remember, a PMM is not possible. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

No your not wrong. But, if you drop into sub-space and capture a little piece and bring it back into real space you will in effect have a free source of energy...no wait that was a Star Trek episode, sorry.

Theoretically, a PMM is not possible. However, no theory is perfect and 100% verifiable, by definition, and as the creationists insist on telling us. This PMM is possible. But then again, so is the theory of gravity being discovered to be a load of bollocks.

The scientist in me sees this thing as being as credible as the Nigerian scam. But they do seem to be awfully confident. I'd like to hope that they're right.

Thanks for the heads up CV.

The technology has a coefficient of performance greater than 100%.

You'll all forgive me if I say... bullpucky.

It's not possible to have efficency of greater than 100%. In every process energy is lost. Be it to heat, light or noise, nothing is perfect. Even if the losses are miniscule, they are there and quantifiable.

Nor is it possible to create energy from nothing. Everything has to come from someplace.

Reminds me of the clowns that created 'cold fussion' in a glass of water a few years ago.

Where's the part where they look for 'investors'?

One of the guys in one of the videos declares, as a matter of course that "If you walk uphill and then walk down you have a net gain of energy"

I understand that there are circumstances where energy can be 'gained'. I'm supposing that the missing information is 'in a closed system'. ( a la Dr Gish and the second law of thermodynamics)

But supposing you could close the system?

Great, the next time my car is almost out of gas I'll find the nearest hill and drive up, coast down, drive up, coast down, etc. The tank will be full in no time.

There is always the possibility that they tapped into an energy source that people haven't found yet. Neither magnetism nor gravity are 100% completely understood and, as I understand the description of their device, it seems to work with those forces.

I'm not saying I believe them, but a lot of major advances in science started off with a load of distinguished and respected scientists rubbishing them.
