HI Guys,

I found this free download of an excellent book on tanka, called Tanka Teachers Guide. Its worth a look if you are interested in exploring new forms. I like tanka for erotic stuff because it was originally intended for love poems something like aubades, so it lends itself to the hotter work. I think UnderYourSpell might be someone in particular who might be good at this style...

I'm buying the hard copy in a few days because, sadly, I am one of those people who get migraines from reading too much on line...

Valid question. Here is a link to a good easy to read copy. I have this one myself. This piece gives a good clear technique for writing tanka and I think you'll be writing them in no time.

As I recall I got forced into writing a couple in Survivor then steered well clear so they are not new to me. Here's one that I did and a not very good one at that ! I'm all for short poems but these seem scraped to the bone to me

Just an old photograph
of a long ago wedding party;
see that child?
How could someone so small
in a handmade cardigan be me?

I downloaded the pdf from the first link and bookmarked the second, as they seem to be distinct.
pdf is quite viewable in constrast to the preview.
Does seem to lead off with a few blank pages, but otherwise OK.
May or may not do much with it, but good to have - thanks.
