There's a keen, if somewhat lurid, interest in 'hairy' landings that can be found on Utube.
A recent one features the A380 (and that is one heavy SOB) and the side-wind just blew it like a leaf.
But he got it down safe !

I assume you mean this one: http://www.wtsp.com/news/nation-wor...wing-airbus-a380-landing-goes-viral/481627768

That's what my Chicago landing felt like.

I grew up and was in Boy Scouts with Bob Schornsteimer's brother. He's the one that managed to get the Hawaiian Air flight safely to the ground after losing a huge chunk of fuselage back in 1988. Now he's a pilot I would trust!

I don't know... I kinda like the new convertibles.

Funnily enough, I knew someone who was supposed to be on that flight, in one of the 'open-top' seats. But his wife was late to the airport, and they were re-booked on a later flight. Oh well, some things are just not meant to be. :)

You wouldn't think it possible, could you ?
I think I'd prefer to have a parachute, though

If I recall my military career aright, a good Sergeant is the backbone of all the military.
He tends to have most, if not all, the answers.

Funnily enough, some of my best have taken place in real life. :)

Reality is for people who can't handle drugs (famous quote from some stoner)

Mea Culpa for having inadvertently skipped your post, HP. Being a child of 60s film, this guy was for me, the ultimate Sergeant (although I don't know if that's his rank in the photo), even over American actors like John Wayne and Lee Marvin:

That's Trevor Howard (a very competent actor) wearing the rank of Colonel
(one crown and two 'bath stars').
The sergeant has three chevrons.

It took me a while to find him - All I could remember was his face - it seems like he was in every war movie of the 60's, although I don't think he was in one of my favorites, The Battle of Britain; Susannah York was - loved her! This is not from that movie, because she didn't show her tits there:

Notice how her hair is up for the entire shot, but down for the frontal close-up.

In "the Battle of Britain", Miss York could be seen wearing a very neat pair of knickers, (displaying a very model bum), and her RAF skirt. Can I find it? Can I hell!

She died in 2011; she's unlikely to be replaced.

She has always been a favorite - the 'pixie' type (although a very sexy one). On cable recently, they were showing 'Sands of the Kalahari', but it was already half over, or I would have watched it. Isn't that the one where monkeys, maybe baboons, eat somebody?
