Many years ago, I travelled to Melbourne in Australia to speak at a conference. On one of my free nights, I went to club where the aforementioned band played the best version of Birdland I have heard - beyond the Weather Report original, that is.

Before I read the part after mention of GD, I knew what you were talking about.
I remember seeing the Duck in concert (fantastic - vocals, brass and guitars ), and I have an LP of them. Great tunes. Great record featuring the theme of saving endangered animal species such as whales, bears, panda, bustards. Rhino Rag is a treat. I am looking at images on the sleeve as I write.
