Flight of the Bumblebee....

Living near NAS Pensacola means you have to get used to your neighborhood being buzzed by the Blue Angels occasionally.

That first time you see the wing tips of jet fighters flying sideways down your street is a trip, though!

Keep your camera to hand then. . .

I'm usually too busy enjoying the free show to even think about photos.

When I was a kid, at the old Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn there were warning signs about low-flying planes along Marine Parkway. And there were quite a few times my father had to put on the brakes to let the Blue Angels land.

Back in the days when we had an Air Force, a well-known bomber base in the north of England had a main road running alongside it. The main road has been in use since the Romans made it. . . .It is still THE main arterial road to the North.
Then the serious bombers moved in and the whole place was re-vamped.
When the bombers wanted to take off, they have a set of traffic lights on the road.

The whole North/South traffic system came to a halt.
That main road was the best place to take pictures of RAF planes. . . .

Area 51

Uh huh. Perfect example.

Back in the mid 1980's my oldest brother was driving truck coast-to-coast and was crossing through Nevada on a very regular basis. One trip back home he very nervously talked about something that flew over him at a low altitude in the desert near Groom Lake. Super fast, super quiet, and very oddly shaped. Nothing at all like known aircraft of the times. He saw the same thing several times over the summer he was running a Pittsburgh to Los Angeles route.

When photos of the Stealth Bomber began getting leaked, he was happy to find out what he had seen was ours and not something from Mars.

Not that I doubt for a single second that there *IS* something (or somethings) at Area 51 that wasn't built on THIS planet. Whether any of us will live long enough to hear that confession from the military or government official is a 50/50 shot at best.

.

In Area 51 stuff? Yes.
It always strikes me as strange that non3e of the 'sightings' of this or that are evidenced by a decent photograph. Camera have been available for many years. . . .

There have been many, many "decent" photographs taken over the years.

Unfortunately, between NASA and the Air Force, they became "Top Secret/Classified" as soon as each space mission crew returned to earth.

The real proof that there is intelligent life out there is to be found in the fact that they haven't contacted us.
