A brief look for some appropriate response got me a breeder of Yorkshire Terriers called FurKids, several shops selling ('festive') faux fur coats in children's' sizes.

It's difficult to comment this early on a wet Saturday morning.
:)

A wet and windy Saturday morning! I'm thinking of the fart scene again now :D

I can still remember how my mother carefully explained a bit of Japanese history to us. She told us how the Kamikaze pilots left on their mission with only enough fuel to get there and not enough to come back to Japan. Did we know what 'kamikaze' means when translated from the Japanese? Soloemnly we shook our heads. It means 'God's wind'. My brother completely cracked up and bent over double laughing. Ever afterwards, when he farted, he would say gleefully: "God's wind!"

I understood Kamikaze to mean "Spirit" wind; Spirit as in Ghost or similar ancestral 'deity'.

That's right. There isn't a 'God' in Japanese faith as such. We are Shinto Buddhists, so we think there are a lot of spirits around in the world. You can see this best in Studio Ghibli films like My Neighbour Totoro or Spirited Away. It was just how she put it to my brother.

I found "My neighbour Totorro" rather tricky.
I could not get my head round it.

:rose::rose:

As you say, a lovely film. I recorded it from the TV.

It's on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gt5jRIlZvaM
But if I wish to enjoy some Japanese material, give me Kurosawa every time.
7 Samurai? Damned good movie.

I've never seen that one! Isn't that terrible. I saw Ran many years ago. So magnificent, although perhaps not yet Piglet viewing material. I saw a special showing in the cinema, with a documentary that told how they made the film. They spray-painted the long grass gold for one of the scenes.

Gabel and Lancaster together...how could it not be a hit and a future classic?

:)

I like to cruise the Youtube, seeking strange & rare films; or maybe films from my youth to have a giggle to.
What really P1$$es me off is the lurid, naked money-grubbing advertising which proclaims a "full movie", but points at a different site [unless it's in Portuguese, Norwegian, Dutch or something].

And don't talk about Disney. They don't have movie-makers these days; they have teams of expensive lawyers to maintain the island mentality.

As far as Disney lawyers going absolutely bonkers, I would have paid good money to have been in their offices when they stumbled over this poster being sold. Supposedly the guy that created it and was selling copies was threatened with spending the rest of his life either in court and/or living in his car if he didn't cease and desist and destroy every single copy he had left immediately.

A couple showed up on eBay in the early days and sold for serious money before the lawyers all but blackmailed eBay into agreeing to never, ever let those show up on the website again. (as in: Even you don't have enough money to fight us and we always win trademark cases if you try!)

:D Presenting the lobby poster for the cartoon feature we never got to see as kids...

Thanks for reminding me; I wondered what happened to that cartoon.

There's another plot bunny there, I reckon.
"Here's take them", said the depressed cartoonist as the Lawyers loomed large over him. Minions hauled the remaining boxes of unsold cartoons out to their cars.
Back at their office, each Lawyer took a couple of copies "for their own research."

Private Research Facility.

SheaBlue or SaxonHart would write a good story about this picture! (Hey, have you guys read the FAWCs yet? Please do if you haven't. There are some terrific stories in the mix :))

First thoughts:-

`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
. . .

Art Linkletter and some of his classic 'Kids say the Darndest Things' outtakes.

:D

.

My favourite: "What makes a good husband?" "A man who has lots of money, likes horses, gives you twenty-two kids and doesn't put up a fight." "And what are you going to be when you grow up?" "A nun." :D

I once overheard a mother saying her son had got into trouble that day at school. As she went to tell him off, he said: "I never slapped him. I high-fived his face." :D
