Another glass, friends?

[All we in England have to do now is to find out how much all this fuss is going to cost us and how much choice WE will have over our governance.]

Wull, noo, dinna mind ef ah do... :)

The question is: How much choice over your governance do you have now?

Well, apart from the usual Parliamentary Elections, frankly, not a lot; at least that's what it feels like.

Naturally, local elections (Town and County councils, for example) may excite a little interest in the population, but frankly the whole politics thing is widely regarded as an excuse for some prat to get on his high horse and screw the electorate for something or other, whilst getting loads of money in expenses or whatever.
[This may actually change; the spotlight has fallen quite fiercely upon 'expenses' for MPs.]

The chance of actually getting to grips with that shower of money-grabbing twerps in Westminster is quite an attractive prospect. But I'm not holding my breath. . .

LOL! :)

Here it's quite the opposite: national elections elicit great emotion, but the local stuff? Not so much...voter turnout is notoriously low in any election that doesn't coincide with a presidential campaign.

I guess everybody here feels that only the guy at the top can do anything...

The ordinary English Voter does not feel it the same way!
