My students all have QQ,which is an IM. They pressured me to sign up..I've quit several times; uninstalled even. But I have it again. I prefer to hide from them to avoid the inane questions..Where are you? what are you doing? how are you?

I still bear the scars of a load of gravel; in the elbow.
I remember the hospital nurse using something which made the wound 'bubble' and the bits of gravel 'floating' up to be removed. I don't recall it hurting.

I confiscate phones if they go off in class. Keep them for a week; make calls home lol..naaaaaaa jk. But a colleague used to confiscate them for a month AND use them!
