'Twas the gathering of the clans,
And all the lads were there,
Searchin' for the lassies
Amid the pubic hair.

Singin' wha' did ye las' nicht?
Wha' de ye now?
Ye couldna do it las' nicht,
Ye canna do it now.

Nirvana did a version of the old Huddy Ledbetter song

My girl. my girl. Don't lie to me!
Where did you sleep last night?
In the pines, in the pines
where the sun never shines
I shivered the whole night through..

the next verse is a killer! literally!!

Corina, Corina,
Where'd you sleep last night?
Corina, Corina,
Where'd you sleep last night?
Your dress ain't buttoned, girl,
Don't fit you right.

L'absence est a l'amour ce qu'est au feu de vent: il éteint le petit, il allume le grand.

Comte De Bussy-Rabutin 1618-1693

Absence is to love what wind is to fire: it extinguishes the small, it enflames the great.

Woomera is a tool to help a spear thrower throw a spear further..Coincidentally it's also the name of a rocket range.

yes, it's called an atlatl in Nahuatl, and that's the basic term for it in American archaeology. And I offered it as an association for the idea of the expropriation that goes with colonialism - take their words, too, after their land - add insult to injury, if you will.

I'll try getting more pleasant. You know English has adopted over 400 words from Nahuatl, including one favourite of many...

Woomera etc, a device to extend the length of the throwing arm, were developed by most civilisations, including the Chinese.

Variations were the sling, and several siege engines used by the Romans and later in Europe.

Most boomerangs were just throwing sticks. The boomerang that returned to the user was a specialised development mainly for hunting birds, and was unique to Australia.

but what I am marvelling at is that while most throwing sticks didn't come back when thrown, boomerangs did.
