Freaks or geeks?

Now wait a minute, I took D&D very seriously in school (but I have branced out to the online RPG section here) and it NEVER offered me any protection from anyone! Man, now I hate my school EVEN more.

If you woulda been at my school, you coulda joined up with us. D&D at lunch, protected by the four psychopaths with deathwishes. Wonder what happened to all of those guys, specially the german exchange student. He was hot.

Went to a High School that took cliques to a whole new level. I played hockey so I hung out with hockey players for the most part. Got far above average grades but made a point not to let it become public knowledge. Never went through that whole teen angst thing that so many do. Did a fair amount of drugs (weed, hash, lsd 3 times, nothing hard) but never got caught and was so preppy that i'm relatively sure no one even suspected. In that school if you had money or played hockey there were always plenty of girls around so that was never a problem.

The bad part.

I was far too often a jerk to people in "lesser cliques". Went out with puck bunnies who were for the most part vapid and bored me to tears. My best friend and I got ostracized for a semester by the girls in our clique because we were hanging out with "sluts" (even though the were more interesting, smarter and entertaining we stopped speaking to them because of it). Missed out on getting to know some great people, I would later discover, because they were not "in".

University smartened me up in more ways than one.

Well, I would say I was the one of those kid in everything. I did the cheerleading thing for a year, on yearbook staff, honor society in a bunch of other clubs, was in student council, so basically, I was in so many activities that it was just hard not to know everyone. In my school there were the kids you wanted to be seen with, and the kids you ran away from, since I was in so many activities, it was good to stay on my good side.

I was a brain in school who did all i could with my brain to get in good with the incrowd by helping them when in turn i was only used for my brain
