Fury, I've got confirmation on passport, the DR address, phone #, Canadian address, the Canadian phone #, business number, the v.o.i.p number, photographs of the property in the DR, current photographs of him (which match the passport), and he's CANPASS verified (a 6 month long government background check so he can skip the lines in customs). We've been on the phone a lot the last few days, often when family is around (he's in Montreal prepping the boys for camp at the moment). I have my e-ticket (which he paid for)- all the information from AA matches up with the verification he's given me. At his insistance, I have that information, my roommate has all that information, and my ex-husband has all that information.

I mentioned it to my ex the other day (only because of something one of the kids said about them moving home to Tx, so I wanted to make sure they weren't moving here just because I'm here), and intially he didn't freak out... then he seriously freaked out- like he's calling the attorney and our old therapist "You'll end up being sold into the slave trade/how dare you be so irresponsible to deprive the kids of their mother!" and is of the opinion I should only date people who are in my personal social circle, specifically because I'm "probably still into that weird BDSM stuff." Sigh.

The annoying thing is that when I explained it to J, he agreed with my ex's concerns, added a few extra security measures (on top of what was already there- which was pretty solid) so I'd never feel like I was stuck in a 3rd world country without any way to leave, and informed me that *if* our visit goes well, he'd like to personally speak with my ex, to reassure him that the mother of his children will always be safe and accessable. He's already offered to talk to my roommate, but she just snorted, said she trusts my judgement, and she isn't my mommy. LOL

I will be staying with him while I'm there, but am free to choose to stay in one of the resorts, instead, if I am uncomfortable. My return ticket can be traded for a different date, and has full travel insurance- at any time I can decide I wanna go home, and go home (which is why I'm flying AA, as they have flights in and out of the DR on a daily basis). he also wants me to be making "safe calls" on a daily basis, as well as checking email/doing things online like I always do.

His friends think he's nuts. They think I can't possible look like I do, or really be as interesting as I sound to have caught his attention, and that I'm going to steal his identity from his passport and open a million credit cards, without ever even getting off the plane... we are both freaking nuts.
