fragments

it seems i am stockpiling fragments. moments, phrases, the odd word, maybe an entire verse. i'm beginning to get looks because of the piles of paper i have stashed on many surfaces around the house (fussy lot).

i need some ideas what to do with mine. i dread the thought of chucking them out, one day they might come in handy. if i go through them and thin them out, i might throw something great and keep something rubbishy. *sigh*

I have many. Most are still fragments. Few are now part of various poems. The fragments live on my computer. They don't really live, though. Just curl and dream and wait to become grand. (Dream on.)

I got crates. I stack them in milk crates and I go through them every few years. If I have no idea where the fragment came from, I toss it.

I've done this. Every few years a few pieces of paper will have something written on it that just puzzle me...

I'm sure it meant something once that made me cry or reminded me of something hilarious...but if it just puzzles me now, out it goes.

what do you do with your fragments?

Save them and from time to time refer back to them. I have several steno pads I use for writing... there are completed poems, but also inspiring quotes I've found, definitions of intriguing words and pieces of poems. From time to time I'll go back to these and go through them, often I'll get inspired and glean a poem or two out of the snippets.

what do you do with your fragments?

Unless I have a place for them for the time I can keep them in my head, within a day or so, I tend to discard them. There is always another fragment out there to be discovered, so I never feel the need to play the hamster.

I save my "snippets" in a "Phrase-file", backed up on two other HDs. - I really should save it to disk too.

okay that's got me feeling paranoid Rybka, thanks. i'll go sort out my fragments and phrases too. ah well, it'll give me something to do over the 3 week christmas break.


Boo, if i come across any that i know i won't use, i'll put them in the Yard Sale.
