Watched Deadpool again yesterday and the line where colossus is explaining what it takes to be a hero has me thinking, what else does it apply to?

Being a nice and decent person?

Or I suppose you could go the other way too, it only takes a few actions to be a bad guy too.

Come up with something that would take just a few moments, and explain those moments.

I'll start:

A good significant other:
Taking the time to listen to understand instead of to reply.
Compromising when the occasion demands.
Forgiveness.

That's all I've got. Anyway, thought this could be an interesting topic. Hope everyone enjoys. Also, discussion on someone else's described moments is great!

Wow, page 3 already... New threads are hard to get traction! How about a pity post? :p

I, by default, have a negative empathy level. So, yeah, I have to think about being a "nice" person. To me, something as simple as holding a door open or elevator for someone may make a difference in their day. Otherwise, I just bribe people with doughnuts.

I'm not sure I understand your question, Tolyk...

“Four or five moments,” Colossus says. “Four or five moments—that’s all it takes to be a hero. Everyone thinks it’s a full-time job. Wake up a hero. Brush your teeth a hero. Go to work a hero. Not true. Over a lifetime there are only four or five moments that really matter. Moments when you’re offered a choice to make a sacrifice, conquer a flaw, save a friend—spare an enemy. In these moments everything else falls away.”

What are other things that aren't full time "jobs", they just take four or five moments..

gotcha..

Giving spare change to the beggar on the street
Buying your kid the book they wanted and reading it with them

Then my snarkier ones would put me right up there with Superman...
*** I haven't killed any co-workers that obviously deserved it....
*** I do occasionally change my filter and hold back what I'm actually thinking. (<=== This alone should put me in some hall of fame somewhere :D)

The filter, I empathize with. It changes me from villian to tolerable :p

I'm not just asking for what "moments" make you a hero, or a nice person, but other subjects that are a culmination of "moments". So the subjects themselves, is the question.

My post will be for bumping purposes only since I didn't see Deadpool. I am assuming it's the Ryan Reynolds superhero movie.

The question isn't about Deadpool... The question was inspired by a line in the movie only..

Standing up not only to your enemies and detractors, but also having the courage to stand up to your friends, when they need straightening out.

Buying food for the beggar on the street and eating with him. Treat him like a human being. If you haven't done this, see how much different that is.

You don't wake up and try to be a hero. It's in you and the decisions you make in any given moment. If you are something wrong are you going to rectify it or walk by saying it's a hard and cruel world. It takes seconds to react or make a different decision. You have to be caring, have some bravery within yourself and back that up with actions to be heroic.

Being with your friend where everyone in his world has rejected him for his one terrible mistake, including the law, and letting him know he is still your friend, you love him, and have faith in him.
