I've been reading bits and pieces about this case for days and none of it makes sense. Four kids stabbed in a house and two others in the same house didn't hear anything? Yet they've been excluded as suspects? There is word of a possible link to two other cases, one in Oregon. Over ten days in and no solid leads, they don't even know the weapon apparently.

if they were stabbed in their sleep, there's not necessarily going to be sound... depending on the location of the stab wounds and how instantaneous unconsciousness or death are. There are reports on how wasted at least one of the girl victims was, so a very deep stupor to begin with can mean a lack of noise and apparent movement.

even if one made a noise, with closed doors and the alcohol potentially involved, there's no great reason a deeply sleeping teenager might have heard a thing. My teens could sleep through a bomb going off, i'm sure, even without drink/drugs involved.

And now with the talk of 'a very nice guy' offering to see two of the girls home for safety's sake, but him being left at the food truck when they got into a vehicle with another person (who is also, apparently, not on the radar as a suspect) throws all kinds of loops into the mix.

I'm supposing, for now, there's evidence not being broadcast to the public for very good reasons and the speculation/amateur sleuthing online by friends and family are just blurring the picture in the public perception. Either that or there's a whole 'shades of ted bundy' feel to it all

Bundy brutalized and killed several women with a log in the middle of the night and nobody heard a sound.
Its not uncommon. Also not uncommon for the cops to hold things close so they don't get a ton of bullshit mixed with facts and real evidence. The story is fascinating but nothing about it so far is really all that strange.

BTK and Richard Chase both murdered entire families in the middle of the day in suburban neighborhoods and not one single person heard or saw anything.
People are mostly oblivious.

I have two words that go with young college students -- dead drunk (pun, tasteless, but included).

I think they're pretty firm on the knife being some sort of hunting knife or Ka-Bar.

Easily disposed of.

If cute blonde girls were not involved, this is just another Detroit evening -- nothing to see here, move on...

I'll add this to the mix, the other day in Oklahoma the authorities discovered 4 murdered Chinese nationals. They were killed execution style at a cannabis farm....

You learn to disregard any noise coming through the walls in places where multiple unrelated people live. You don't even know you're doing it and won't remember anything.

It's a fairly common thing so it's not surprising that no one "heard" anything.

They need to just do their jobs and not feel the need to release so much to the press. They waiver on a stalker or no stalker of the Goncalves woman. Was it a targeted crime or not. Is it connected to the unsolved stabbings in a few hundred mile radius or not.

I’m glad that they are letting students go to traditional classes or online. I read a big 6’2” 240 lb college football player was freaked out as well and not wanting to go out.

Put their noses to the grindstone. Have one person who talks to the press to control release of info to the press. So there’s not all this back and forth stories that are reported and then stepped back. There’s more back and forth with these guys than with Fauci and the Covid thing.

There are 100s of leads to sift through. Local police, staties and FBI all working together. And they’re saying that the perp or perps were sloppy and left all sorts of evidence. I hope they are right. And they are working quietly and getting ready to drop the anvil on the person(s) responsible.

It worries me that they haven’t found the murder weapon and have a suspect or suspects in custody. They’ve got a fairly limited amount of time to get some pretty good leads to get hot on the trail before this could sadly fall into cold case file status. The two other closeby stabbings bear witness to this. The Salem, Oregon double stabbing case was a year ago and they don’t know who the killer is. The double stabbing in Pullman, Washington that occurred in 1999 was never solved.

Families of Idaho murder victims speak at emotional vigil: "In the end, they died together, in the same room, in the same bed"

Little new information has been released about the investigation into the killings and a suspect has not been identified.

Interesting that they would make a point of that detail

So, they hooked up some guy in PA. Not sure how that link happened.

From @theheatherashley’s Instagram page, apparently he was leading a study and posted a survey on Reddit asking ex-cons to participate. Holy shit.

Questions:

Did you prepare for the crime before leaving your home? Please detail what you were thinking and feeling at this point.

How did you travel to and enter the location that the crime occurred?

After arriving, what steps did you take prior to locating the victim or target (i.e., person or object)? Please detail your thoughts and feelings.

Why did you choose that victim or target over others?

Before making your move, how did you approach the victim or target?

Please detail what you were thinking and feeling.

What was the first move you made in order to accomplish your goal?

Please detail any thoughts and feelings at this point.

How did you accomplish your goal? Please explain what you were thinking and feeling.

Before leaving, is there anything else you did?

How did you leave the scene?

After committing the crime, what were you thinking and feeling?

it's weird, but kind of in a way that could appear he was hoping to trap someone with information that might link to the idaho murders. or... it's just weird.

Probably through “the white car”, but who knows at this point.

If they did narrow down the people with that make of car and found one who was in the area at the time and who suddenly changed their behavior / location, then it probably was fairly elementary.

Just saw the suspect’s mug shot and he has the look of a psychopath / serial killer.

Dead, evil eyes.

Matched DNA at the murder site. They picked him up in PA, but he was a university student in Washington State, just across the line from Idaho, living there at the time.
