Forwarding Email. *sigh*

This irritates me. I don't mind receiving forwards of funny jokes and the like. It's good for a smile. What I can't stand is the "chain" forwards that demand I sent it to at least 7 of my friends. The one I hate even more are the "if you're my friend you'll pass this on" forwards. If you were my friend you wouldn't be demanding that I prove my friendship to you by violating the address boxes of the people on my list with these stupid "friendship" forwards. I'm not your friend because you send me cute pictures of winnie the pooh hugging eyore. I'm your friend because we talk to each and interact.

The one thing that irritates me more than anything else is that when I get something I think ought to be forwarded on, like a virus alert or something, and I do so. Then one of the people on my address list takes all the other address from my list and starts sending everyone stupid forwards. That wasn't the intent of me sending a mass email out. My list is large and it won't all fit in the BCC box. *sigh*

Oh well, it doesn't matter, I don't send out a mass email anymore, no matter how important it may appear to be.

My personal email pass-it-on etiquette:

On RARE occasions I mass email. I always BCC out of respect for the privacy of the recipients.

I rarely forward. I usually cut and paste out of respect for the person who sent it to me.

If the item of interest is in a chain letter, I cut out the part about "send to 10 friends or you'll get boils on your bottom."

I only send jokes, and then only to people who I think will also find them amusing. I avoid "touchy-feely" crap. I also don't send out the "warnings" because I've never had one not be an urban myth or a hoax.

Other than that, if it makes me laugh out loud, I send it.

MP ;)

Your IP isn't attached to webbased mail, like yahoo, hotmail, and literotica. It's only attached to things that come out of your harddrive based mail, outlook. Or so my ISP tells me.

Most warning I get about viruses that I pass on (Ya'll will note it's never been passed on) come from legitimate sources, not just friends passing the message. Other than that, I don't mass forward anymore.

The person who took one of my mass forward lists and started flooding my friends with forward spam, well, I went to several places like the brain.com and the like and entered his email address to sign him up. Then I sent him a sweet email explaining that I'd done him dirty so he'd know what it felt like to start getting mail you don't want out of the blue.

Sometimes you frighten me Muffin? If you are ever mad at me will you forward me a mass mailing warning of all the people who are about to get their rumps kicked real hard? Angie will never forward mail, never forward mail. She lives to be a good puppy.

The only things I forward are to my sister, we have the same sense of humor & have a lot of the same interests. Anything that has more than 3 addies on it gets deleted. I am on some lists & will send an email to the group, but not forwards of chain letters & junk like that. I still get so many angel things, shooting articles, etc, I pretty much delete them without ever opening them. My delete key is one of the most often used keys on the computer.

Okay, this is what I do when I get those retarded emails. I save it and send it to the person about 20 times repeatedly. Then I do it again the next week, and the week after until he gets the hint. It usually works quite well!

I have mass forwarded a few things to some Lit members, and I really hope I didn't annoy anybody with it. I only forward stuff I think is important. Taking notes on the BCC thing, though. Think I'll be even more selective in the future.
