If someone, we'll call him Chesty, walked up to you and said "I don't tolerate violence." You take him at his word. He doesn't tolerate violence.

A bar fight breaks out and once it ends he walks over to the guy who started it help him up and buys him a drink.

You then walk up to Chesty and say "Didn't you just say you don't tolerate violence?"

To which he replies. "None of that was directed at me."

You ask him "why is that important? You seem to be more than just condoning it, your friendly with someone who just did what you said you don't tolerate."

At this point Chesty could say that he meant he doesn't tolerate violence directed at him and that his first statement was a little unclear. Instead Chesty looks down "Look I'm not the fucking police, you defend yourself and I'll defend myself. That's how men do it."

You're confused at this point. You do fight your own battles and can take it. Never once have you claimed you don't tolerate violence, you can in fact be quite a vicious cunt sometimes for little more reason than it looked like fun. "I didn't ask you to protect me, or anybody. I'm asking why you said you don't tolerate violence when you very clearly do."

A smug smile creeps across Chesty's face. "Listen here son. I don't like repeating myself. I'll leave keeping the fights from starting to you and those other pussies who you hang with. If it bothers you so much that my words and actions don't line up why don't you close your eyes, cover your ears and start chanting I can't hear you at the top of your lungs. It'll solve the problem."

I can probably try to get you some visual aids since reading comprehension clearly isn't your strong suit. Perhaps a video, I'll even go to my parent place and see if I can dig up some puppets and baring that I'll stop by the Supermarket and pick up some lunch bags.
