How much of what you see the young-uns up to these days is BTDT, and how much is WTF?

In the latter category, I have to put piercings.

In particular, "Excuse me, I'd like to have a spike driven through my tongue so I can have a piece of metal in my mouth all the time without accidentally swallowing it."

On the upside, once you're past forty, you may be old enough to know better, but you're also too old to care. ;)

OK, I'll show my age, what is BTDT, been there done that?

Damn I've got t-shirts older then .......

The piercings..... ewwww makes my cringe.

Yep, don't get the piercing thing. I mean, I've got pierced ears, one hole each side, but my twenty-something daughter has multiple piercings, each lobe. Thank God, no tongue piercing. And the one place where you couldn't pay me enough to pierce is my clit. Yikes. *puts hand protectively over sensitive bits*

I had one piercing in each ear until I was 43, then I got two more and a cartilage as well. Two tattoos (aiming for more) and got my belly button done in November. I'm 46.

I'm close enough to 40 to post in here.

I've got a hood piercing, and I wish I had done it 20 years ago. It seriously improved my sex life. Screw fashion, it feels fantastic.

Post pics.

Dang, I'm feeling like a granny! My Mom had to drag me to get my ears pierced - then in college I had a third hole but let it go. I rarely wear earings now, actually I don't wear much jewlery.

I've had multiple surgeries but the idea of piercing and tatoos make me squirm and go ouchhhhhhh.

LOL Cathleen I'm feeling exactly the opposite - I'm sure my kids think I'm crazy :D My daughter aged 14 at the time rolled her eyes when I got my first tattoo.....she's going to freak when she sees the belly piercing!

You are far braver then I Bandit, I will say I never miss the opportunity to do the washable tatoos that my nieces and nephews get on occasion... that is about my speed! lol

Is there room in here for someone who used to be a forty something?

As a life-long needlephobe I simply don't get the piercing or tattooing fads but I suppose that each generation has to have its distinguishing characteristics.

I have ears pierced, double in one, triple in the other, but I never wear earrings.

3 Tattoos and I'd get another.

I'm a used-to-be-fortysomething too, Kiss.

If we start our own thread, think anybody else will show up?;)

Trouble is, what do we talk about? The joys of bran, and hot flashes?:D

(Hell, no! Let's talk about wild monkey sex after the kids move out! )

I had my spike put through my tongue because I like pain. And I kept it there because it made me feel sexy.

My bf actually thinks I give better head without it, but I got it for me, and I gave it up for me. *shrug*

Oh, and had my nose pierced because I always liked the look... didn't keep it cus it was just annoying as all hell.

I'm left with 6 holes in my right ear, and 4 in my left... and two tattoos, planning a third.

I am a masochist, to this is really why I do it.. it's not about fashion.

You know you're beyond forty-something when you put bran on your shredded wheat for the added flavor.

Wild monkey sex? I'll stick to human sex, thank you very much.

Besides, by the time the last one moves out of here I'll be so old any sex I have will instantly qualify me for the Guinness Book of World Records.

As to keeping on with the thread's themes so far, I think the very best piercings involve a male becoming fully embedded within his beloved - at which point he pierces her soul with the deepest and most honest telling of his love for her.

I knew we'd get around to hot flashes...this just gave me one. ;)

Very romantic, Kiss. You are indeed the HowTo board's resident poet.:rose:

My tat, didn't hurt any more that my electric razor.

Piercing. That hurt.

For the most part I chuckle, because I'm sure those younguns are convinced they invented everything from drinking to sex.

I think it's mostly BTDT, there really isn't all that much that's truly new.......even body piercing as a fashion item goes back over 20 years to the birth of punk rock, it's just more accepted now.

The big advantage the youth of today have is the rarity of any dominant fashion and therefore a (relative to our youth )lack pressure to conform, individuality is, if not encouraged, at least respected.

BTW

I have yet to get a head job from a lady with a tongue piercing, but I am determined to get one at some stage;)
