I was thinking of a story where these two people spent most of their childhoods as stepsiblings, but then their parents got divorced. A few years later they are still close. The lady is getting ready to get married in Vegas. She spends time with her former stepbrother and they have lots of fun, bringing back old feelings. One thing leads to another and the next thing they know they wake up in bed together. They have some fuzzy memories about the previous night but can't remember why they are naked or why they have rings on. They check with friends and are told they started acting weird late in the day and left. They checked some more and are told by someone who they thought they could trust and are told they are not married and the rings aren't for marriage or that they are cheap rings. They go their separate ways at the end of the day. The lady for reasons she never explained to many people (only her best friend) she broke it off with the guy she had planned to marry. Later she ends up having a baby and people thought it belonged to her ex. But a couple years later she explains the truth to her former stepbrother. The baby was his and sometime after they woke up naked with one another she did more digging and found out they truly were husband and wife.

The obvious question is, what next? They're legally married -- step-relationships are no barrier in Nevada -- so do they co-habit, and where?

For fun, their backstory could be complex and multiracial, especially if their polyglot families are involved. Do they have other siblings, aunts/uncles/cousins, kin who might react strongly to their marriage? Must they hide from their home community?

They probably would be a little confused at first and try to have a normal friendship or a relationship like they had before, with her trying to hint at them having a sexual or married relationship. But they'd most likely end up together living some place.

He would be an only child but with a few cousins and two a male and female that were close enough to him that they were almost like siblings to him. She'd have a few different races in her family, like part black, Asian, Native American, or something. His female cousin and some other relatives would be fine with the marriage, his biggest supporter would be his female cousin. But some relatives would be mostly unsure about the new relationship, but his male cousin would be totally against it, mostly because he secretly had a crush on her or his best friend was her ex. They live in the same state but move to the next town or something.
