Hello all,

I've been publishing here for a while, and I'm familiar with some of the basics when it comes to formatting options in our stories. I know how to italicize and bold, as well as how to center and right-align text.

I'm wondering if there's any way to publish stories while adding additional line breaks and/or white space between lines. I've tried this in the past and had the additional space removed, though thankfully it wasn't a big deal.

However, I have a chapter in the works that would greatly benefit from the extra white space. As an example, it's the type of story that, when published, will have an entire page that's completely blank save for a single word in the center.

Are there any ways I might be able to recreate this here?

Thanks!

I just tested it on a draft and

seem to force extra line breaks. I didn't try a whole page but I did 4 and it worked.

Maybe add something in the submission note too to make sure Laurel knows it's intentional, since I imagine minimizing unintentional extra white space is a thing that might be done.

There's also the
tag.

I would expect Laurel to like extra whitespace, up to the point that it becomes irritating. Extra page loads = extra ad reads.

As I understand it, page breaks are controlled by character count rather than number of lines, so adding say six blank lines via
should not have the same effect on pagination as adding six lines worth of text.

I'd imagine that you could
as many as you like but as far as I can tell it's impossible to predict where the page breaks will be since the preview does not show them. It only previews in one looooongasssss page.
