Hi all,

I'm cross-posting this from the AH.

A technical question on formatting. My brain is too fried to start reseaching so I was hoping that someone here might have the answer.

I was trying to figure out how to format pages in MS Word to come out looking like a paperback book : Printed out in landscape with two distinct "pages" side by each (that's the Canuck in me) on the same physical page.

The answer is probably something simple, but I'm just not seeing it.

Thanks in advance,

RL

Format -> Columns (Number of Columns: 2).

:)

Ah ... that's the easy part. I want it to look like a paperback novel and have page numbers under both columns. I suspect I am going to have to live without that though.

Thanks, RawHumor. :)

That's definitely trickier, as you're not actually looking at true page numbers.

This site might give you some things to try:

Oh .. I don't believe in easy questions.

I got the answer up in the AH ... more traffic. I'll cut and past it in here as well.

In the Page Setup menu, choose Multiple Pages, 2 pages per sheet; landscape orientation. I tried it with page numbering and you get a number on each half. Hope it works for you

and also this link

Thanks, RawHumor!

First, for a novel look, use the landscape layout, not portrait. Then go to INSERT on the top of the screen, and scroll down to Page Numbers. You can then format the placement, font, etc of the actual numbers.

Thanks again.

Now that I've spent enough time procrastinating worrying about formatting the story, I should get my ass in gear and finish the damned thing. :D

Just be sure you don't start out in fourth or fifth gears. "Lugging" your ass in too high a gear can cause bogging, bucking, lurching, knocking or --oh, the humanities--the dreaded ass backfire ;)

What you want to do Rogue is this:

1. Print the book on single pages.
2. Glue page 2 to the back of page 1.
3. Repeat for pages 3-398.
4. Take to store with 2 sided copier.
5. Make copy - reducing to 50%.
6. Cut the excess away and glue in binder.

Easy.

Ah ... clarity. Thank you.

BTW, you make it sound like being a Boy Scout or something.

It is much the same - but without the ridiculous uniforms and penises.

shouldn't that be without the uniforms and ridiculous penises?

Either works, but yes I believe your statement is more accurate.
