Well, my illustrated story submitted as a word doc just got sent back for having both markup AND formatting. I spent hours putting in that damn markup, because I thought it would makes things easier.

Oh well, another 6 weeks or so -- it took nearly 3 months to get my first illustrated story accepted.

Illustrated story authors, how do you do it?

Does it really take that long? Damn, I feel so pampered now...
I understand how that delay can be frustrating so maybe you can just remove the images and submit text only, and in your Biography you can add a link to a website where you post your images, grouped by story of course. It is a bit crude solution, yet if it is really 6 weeks wait time, I would consider doing something like that...
Damn... 6 weeks? I can't wrap my brain around that. What the hell could possibly be the reason for that?

Yeah, takes ages for illustrated stories. I checked; there are threads about it here. And also maybe it's because it was my first story, so they did some more thorough checks than they would have done if I'd had a track record . And it was rejected at first because I merely referenced ( linked) my Literotica profile, which itself has a link to the images on my website.

Maybe just mention in your story for readers to check your profile out for links, without actually putting a link in the story? I don't think that would be breaking any rules...

I did that, pretty much. I think me being a new author, the mere mention of links raised a red flag somewhere.

Pity, really.

I really wish Literotica supported multimedia, and interactive stories using Inky. But then I guess there are a lot of tech issues which make it not so easy to support without maybe breaking stuff.

You could try messaging Laurel and maybe you can work out a solution. Waiting 6 weeks for approval is ludicrous in my opinion. Not to mention your story could get rejected and then you are back at the start

That's just happened to me a second time. Sometimes I imagine Laurel is just being sadistic making me resubmit and wait so long. In fact it turns me on. I love being made to submit by sadistic woman until I'm reduced to utter humiliation.

HENnyway, I'll just keep on writing more smut in the meantime...

Consider keeping formatting and markup to an absolute minimum.

For example, I don't use a word processor, I use a textpad.

I get that you can't submit an illustrated story in .txt format unless the image is hosted elsewhere and linked in a <img> tag, but one otherwise ought to be able to write any story with zero markup at all.

I wonder if the issue was that your Word doc had both Word formatting in it as well as <markup><tags> in the text. There's no simple, automated way to parse that kind of thing into web-ready presentation.

Yes, that was precisely the issue. I was told it confused their parser. I'm not surprised, it confused me too, with all them tags.
