I forgot my literotic.com password.and all I want to know is how to find out what it is.

I keep getting the ringaround when I follow the instructions on how to get it and never find out anything.

Thank you!

Do you know the email address you used to register that account, and do you still have access to that account? If so, you should be able to put it in the box after clicking on the forgotten password link, and have the pw sent to that address.

What do you mean when you say you're getting the runaround?

Do you have stories posted under that username, or is it possible you could just start fresh with this, or another account, maybe telling people about your old account in your sig and/or profile, so they can check it out if they want?

If you can't remember the email address you used to register, there's no way of recovering it. It's a safety feature.

As Erika said, the only other option is to reregister.

ringaround

Ringaround - well sort-of. I haven't forgotten my password but I've lost it (something to do with my pc cookies maybe). The site won't recognise my original password and I'm told to re-register. That would entail me choosing a different user name, which I don't wish to have since I have a couple of stories posted here already. What to do?

And you can't remember/access the email you registered with?

If so, I think you're out of luck as been said already.

It's not uncommon for people to submit stories under different usernames than they use on the forums, so you could re-register and keep submitting, linking your new account to your old one with a link to your previous stories in you sig and profile.

Also, if you PM Laurel, she may be able to somehow transfer your old stories to your new account, or have another suggestion for you. I can see where doing that could be a security risk, as it'd be difficult to impossible for her to verify you own the old account and stories, but it might be worth a try.

In the future, choose a password you'll remember and don't rely on your browser/computer to keep it safe. Also use an email address that you'll always have access to (I find gmail to be a good option due to the amount of storage space and ability to link different accounts; they also don't de-activate your account for inactivity, like hotmail and some of the other services do), and you shouldn't have a problem.

me again

Thanks for the advice. I haven't forgotten my password or lost it in the sense that I don't know what it is, I wrote it down when I created it. But for some reason the site now tells me it or my username are invalid.

I can't get into my submissions, yet I have no trouble logging on here. Strange.

I'll go away and ponder things, confident that in a new day all will be made clear.

Ah. I wasn't understanding the situation correctly.

Did the problem start in the past week?

As you may have noticed, they've been making some major changes to the site recently. Others have had problems logging in and such, and they're trying to fix all the glitches as quickly as possible.

I'd say you'd be correct in giving it some time (at least a few days, if possible). Before you try logging in again, log out of the forums, clear your cookies and tempoary internet files/cache, close your browser, restart your computer, and see if it works. If not, check the Site Announcements for any mention of the problem, and PM Manu with the situation about being able to get into the forums but not your submissions page, and see what he has to say.

The good news is, your positive attitude will help, and everything is likely to be fine in short order. :)

That is strange, because if the submissions page is for the username "Snurge" you should be logged in to the main site as well as the forums because they are controlled by the same cookie -- IOW, loggin into the site should log you into the forums and vice versa.

However, it IS a problem that has cropped up before and the solution is something that Laurel or Manu has to reset on the main site.

One thing you can try if you haven't already:

Log out through the forum software and close your browser completely -- not just close the window or tab with Literotica.

Restart your browser and go directly to the main site login and try to log in -- make sure you mark the "remember me" checkbox.

Come back to the forums and see if you're logged in here after attempting to log in there.

Report the results in PM to Manu as a bug report on the forum upgrade.

That pesky problem

I can't get into my submissions, yet I have no trouble logging on here. Strange.

PM'd Manu earlier, but although I haven't received a reply yet the problem appears resolved.
BIG THANK YOU's to SweetErika and Weird Harold for their support. I came late to computers so I'm always running to catch up, and it's nice to know someone cares enough to prop me up when I get short of breath.

It hasn't been resolved for me.

I have the same issue. I can log in here, but not to my submissions.

I'll just give it some more time...

I haven't submitted a story in a long time, but I recall that sometimes I'd be logged in perfectly fine in terms of the forums, yet be asked to verify my password when modifying my author's profile or something along those lines.

Which has nothing to do with my real reason for replying, which is to remind folks that they are likely dealing with an annoying overload of issues after the recent upgrade, and my PERSONAL advice is to send a PM to either Laurel or Manu, but don't you dare tell them I suggested it.

LukkyKnight,

Thank you for your reply.

I just recently came to realize that the whole upgrade thing was going on. I know they must be swamped. I don't want to bother them with this right now. It's not a big deal.

I'm a patient person and I'm in no hurry.

In the meantime, I'll just keep lurking in the forums.

Thank you,
Camilleon
