I think a couple months back I read a story where it starts out like this: a mom finds her daughters diary, we then get some exposition on how upright and good a daughter she is, intellectual and all that. If I remember correctly, the diary details her starting her first year of college at Harvard, and also how she has a boyfriend who’s also as much of an intellectual as her. After some convincing she’s able to finally meet her boyfriend’s family and we find out it’s a miracle the boyfriend is even attending Harvard at all, the brother and father of the boyfriend are the worst. She especially hates the father. Anyway the story is about this girl is slowly corrupting herself subconsciously to try and make herself more appealing to the boyfriends father. The father says he doesn’t feel attracted to her at all because he likes women who smoke. The girl then goes to a part of some sort and has her first cigarette there. Next time she goes to her boyfriends house and meets the dad, she tells him she smoke for the first time. That’s pretty much all I remember from the story, I’ve tried searching through the tags and title but I just couldn’t find it, if anyone recognizes this plot and knows the name of the story, please tell me. Thanks!
