I hope you read the whole article. It's written by one of yours, a man who loves your city. What he's talking about here isn't only going to happen to NYC, it will happen to others as well:

New York City is dead forever

By James Altucher

August 17, 2020 | 4:16pm | Updated

Author, comedy club owner and former hedge-fund manager James Altucher self-published this essay on Thursday, Aug. 13, under the title, “NYC is dead forever. Here’s why.” He granted the New York Post permission to reprint his piece in full below.

I love NYC. When I first moved to NYC it was a dream come true. Every corner was like a theater production happening right in front of me. So much personality, so many stories.

Every subculture I loved was in NYC. I could play chess all day and night. I could go to comedy clubs. I could start any type of business. I could meet people. I had family, friends, opportunities. No matter what happened to me, NYC was a net I could fall back on and bounce back up.

Now it’s completely dead. “But NYC always always bounces back.” No. Not this time. “But NYC is the center of the financial universe. Opportunities will flourish here again.” Not this time.

Yeah, but he's white. Just a poser with privilege.

Unlike Zumi, out there in the heart of Brooklyn, living what he calls a "Black life" consisting of cartooning big-breasted women, day drinking, culturally appropriating tacos and noodles as a self-declared "playa, walking the walk."

At least in daylight it the evil, gentrified parts of Brooklyn.

Reminds me of Luk as the expert of all things California from the vantage point of the poolhouse, having never actually owned any Cslifornia real estate..

At least you're not an envious and bitter fool. That would be terrible.

By his own words, he still lives here.

I know a good way to make Gig Economy Cabbie Of The Week there go total seizure city.

Just whisper "gripper rods" into his ear and watch him flop around like a chicken bone was horizontally stuck in his neck.

True, but it is a compelling article and grim testimony to the possible future of other big Democrat cities where lawlessness is allowed to run free. Productive people are leaving, they no longer feel safe. Nobody is going to sink their future into an environment where business activity is under criminal threat. Where few would want to raise their children.

I talked to a friend of mine living near Boise ID, he told me his neighbor sold his home over the phone to a businessman in Chicago who offered him 20K more than he was asking to keep the sale open until he could get there to finalize the sale. People are leaving these cities in droves.

This is everywhere USA. It’s also a buyers market and money is just about free.

Not really, the point of the thread is that people are moving out of Democrat run cities and into other safer less chaotic locations. What is going on in these other locations isn't a buyer's market, it's a seller's market. Rents and property values are declining in NYC, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, and Portland, a buyers market? Maybe when they can find some buyers. Property values and Prices are rising in those areas where there is law enforcement and a safe environment.

So the people rioting in those cities to save their beloved communities from the fascist asshole president are trying to leave?

That is not even what the op ed says. I can tell you business people that I deal with everyday say their business is hurting only because they are not having as many face to face dealings with people.

Look this goes beyond the article. Take the Time & Life Building in downtown NYC, it was designed to accommodate around 8000 people, it's presently occupied by about 500 people. How well do you think this pays the overhead? What do you think happens to downtown office space when companies realize it's cheaper and more efficient to have people working in remote locations instead of the cost of housing them in centralized office spaces downtown? What do you think are the economic consequences of that little change of operation might be? What might be the consequences of masses of people no longer traveling into downtown to work every day? What do you think happens to every other associated service oriented business that depend on that clientele? Why would large numbers of people want to travel into a city center where the law isn't being enforced and business activity is threatened with wholesale criminality daily? We know what happens. We know what is happening as we speak.

Well, he draws his GB-sized tits from home now.

He should be able to get a good deal subletting Melania's bedroom in Trump Tower pretty soon.

Good place to learn how to draw tits properly.

There's a lot of plywood panels to decorate these days on the streets.

When was the last time you actually fought for something? Something that mattered to you. Something deep in your heart. Never. Not once. You're a keyboard koward, nothing more. A useless spoke in the wheel. Just a whiny impotent internet warrior.

Wow. I don't know when I have seen a more potent internet warrior whine so very well.

Impressive, Jism.

I fought for my job, my education, my business, my property, my house (both of them), and paid my own way for every inch and bit of it, paid huge amounts in taxes as well. I've probably dropped a few bucks in your cup at some point in my travels. What have you done? Actually, I don't really care.

Is this where we hear about how you’re making a difference?

Looks like tranager is up to her racist ways again. Why is she so threatened by black people and feels she must win every internet argument? Small "man" syndrome?

She's a disaster who needs a white knight. It's cute that old people can find a purpose in their advanced years.
