For Those Who Might Be Wondering Why We Might Be In Ukraine

Seeing that Russia "wants a ceasefire but needs to talk to 47"

Zelensky is calling his bluff already.

47's next statement will be telling.

Now imagine if the U.S. had continued to match the U.K.’s and the EU’s (sans Hungary) resolve on Ukraine.

Imagine if a President Harris had been elected and brought even more fire and resolve from the U.S. to demonstrate that she would not be bullied by Putin, Xi, etc.

Yeah, that ^ would have been cool / awesome…

😑

🤬

We. Told. Them. So.

Massive Fire Spreads Over Russia’s Tuapse Oil Refinery After Explosions

The oft-struck Tuapse oil refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai is engulfed in a massive fire after reported explosions, with speculation of a drone or missile attack.
Following last night’s explosions in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai, a massive fire broke out and spread across more than a thousand square meters at the Tuapse oil complex, a strategically important refinery for southwestern Russia, according to regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev. He stated that one of the gasoline storage tanks caught fire, and more than a hundred emergency service workers are battling the blaze.

Currently, the Tuapse refinery is part of the Russian oil company Rosneft and has an annual processing capacity of approximately 12 million tons of crude oil. The plant specializes in primary oil refining, producing straight-run gasoline, diesel fuel, and fuel oil, a significant portion of which is exported. For the Russian military, the Tuapse refinery holds strategic importance as it supplies fuel to the Black Sea Fleet and military infrastructure in the country’s south. It is an integral part of the logistical supply chain for military equipment and aviation fuel.

Sweden to Deliver 18 Archer Self-Propelled Guns and 5 ARTHUR Counter-Battery Radars to Ukraine

This is part of the 18th package of Swedish military aid to Ukraine, valued at approximately $300 million. Sweden has finalized a deal to produce and supply 18 Archer self-propelled artillery systems and 5 ARTHUR counter-battery radars to Ukraine, as announced by Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonsson. "Sweden has previously donated 8 Archer systems to Ukraine. They are appreciated by and have done a good job at the front in delivering damage to the russian occupiers. With a combination of speed, precision and mobility, Archers are a formidable weapon in Ukraine," Jonsson remarked.

Another 18 of these is a big deal. These are great artillery. BAE Systems ARCHER needs less than 30 seconds from the time the operators receive a call for fire, to stop the vehicle, position for action, and fire the first round. Less than 30 seconds after the mission is accomplished, ARCHER is on the move again. ARCHER can fire six rounds, displace, and move 500m in less than 2 minutes, while the crew remains in an armored cabin. It fires both conventional artillery ammunition as well as the BONUS Anti-armor and Excalibur Precision Guided Munitions. ARCHER is in operational use and was fielded to the Swedish Army 2016 on a 6x6 VOLVO articulated hauler chassis. The ARCHER is also in service with the British Army as part of its solution to replace the AS90 systems the UK donated to Ukraine. It's also in use with the Ukrainian army.

Just heard Pooty-Poot accepts deal in principle?

What say you bed wetters?
He hasn't accepted anything but the idea of a ceasefire. He's going to force a complete change of the terms that Ukraine agreed to and then Ukraine will reject that.

And instead of continuing talks in Saudi Arabia, Putin wants a one on one with 47 without Zelensky. Wonder why , 🤔

"Long lasting peace" is something that Russia has demonstrated not to be interested in
“We agree with the proposal to cease hostilities but we have to bear in mind that this ceasefire must be aimed at a long-lasting peace and it must look at the root causes of the crisis,”

Regarding the ceasefire deal, the Institute on the study of war:

Via CNBC: https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2025/03/14...timism-ukraine-ceasefire-but-has-caveats.html
"Putin is holding the ceasefire proposal hostage and is attempting to extract preemptive concessions ahead of formal negotiations to end the war," the Institute for the Study of War said in analysis, warning the Kremlin leader is likely "disinterested in good faith peace negotiations" and still seeks to deliver on long-term objectives of Ukrainian demilitarization.

"Putin's envisioned ceasefire would grant Russia greatly disproportionate advantages and set conditions for the Kremlin to renew hostilities on terms extremely favorable to Russia," it added

Here's a good take on Ukraine's view - they see the US as having changed sides and they're stallig for time and preparing for that.

Zelensky pushed back on Trump’s ceasefire plan, expressing reservations about enforceability, and gets sanctioned for it through withdrawal of US military and intelligence support. Putin pushed back on Trump ceasefire plan, expressing reservations about enforceability, and gets praised by Trump for his response. It’s clear that in negotiations Trump bullies the one he perceives as the weaker party, and panders to the one he perceives as the strong/bully. Mike Waltz now appears on TV and pre-announces that Ukraine gets no NATO membership and it has to give territory away.

He's doing the same thing with Canada and with NATO - and Australia. Destroying a long-term relationship for expediency tied to his personal goals and not to long-term US interests. No country in the world now views the USA as a reliable partner and never will again, regardless of any change in President. Trump's singlehandedly trashed that one in a few weeks.

Seems self-evident that on Ukraine, the US under Trump has switched sides. Trump is set on a reset in relations with Putin and Russia and he is prepared to sacrifice Ukraine to achieve that. Trump is not prepared to sanction Putin – he is scared of him. We've seen that very visibly. Zelensky areges, and Trumps cuts military aid and intelligence. Russia launches terror attacks on civilians and Trump does nothing whatsoever. That and Waltz's statements are a clear a statement as you can get that the US is not negotiating in Ukraoie's interests, but for the USA's. In this case, Ukraine has to play along for as long as possible to keep military supplies rolling in - the US logistical hub in Poland is now pushing things like the artillery shells and other assistance that Biden approved as fast as they can roll them thru.

In the end, what this will come down to is that Ukraine will be presented with a terrible, pro-Russian deal, and Trump will attempt to bully Zelensky to accept that. Zelensky won’t accept that as it will mean the end of Ukrainian sovereignty with all the genocidal consequences that entails so, after playing for time, Ukraine will eventually walk away. Trump will rant and rave and maximize pressure on both Ukraine and on Europe to also pull support from Ukraine and he will also lift sanctions on Russia. Neither are in Europe’s interest so let’s see how long both Ukraine and Europe can hold out.

In the end, Ukraine will continue to fight and will devastate the Russian economy and slowly and at great cost push the Russians back to both the 2014 border and will recapture Crimea. It's probably take to 2026. What we are seeing in Kursk, et al, is Ukraine now preparing the way for a withdrawal of US support and consolidating its position for the long war with Russia.

Here, for example, Trump is claiming that "thousands of Ukrainian troops are surrounded by the Russian military in the Kursk region and said he has asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to spare them. However, both Ukrainian soldiers fighting in Kursk and the Ukrainian high command say Trump is wrong. Ukraine is pulling back from the Russian territory it captured in a surprise offensive last summer, but those forces have not been encircled. The Ukrainian command has sent reinforcements to secure the retreat to new positions, a process that has been under way for several days.

I tend to believe the Ukranians rather than Trump. His relationship with the truth is, at best, highly questionable.

New Intel Shows Russian Officials Believe Trump Has Already Agreed to Kremlin’s ‘Peace Plan’ to End War in Ukraine - the Trump White House is moving toward accepting key Russian demands, emboldening the Kremlin as it seeks to undermine Zelensky and shape the war’s end on Moscow’s terms, undercutting Kyiv’s position – and by pushing a global narrative that calls for the replacement of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky among other pro-Russian actions, according to interviews with multiple senior Ukrainian officials and previously unreported documents reviewed by Kyiv Post.

According to multiple sources, Moscow is increasingly confident that the US is prepared to fulfill most of its demands, including making Zelensky’s removal a prerequisite for any negotiated settlement. Sources attribute this apparent shift in US positioning to direct talks between US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin, ongoing peace negotiations in Saudi Arabia, and warming US-Russia relations.

Washington’s recent shift towards Moscow has stunned allies, sparking transatlantic tensions. A third Ukrainian official said that America’s partners, particularly the British, had conveyed their surprise and dismay to their Ukrainian counterparts over how swiftly US support for Kyiv had vanished. “It is a very dirty game,” the source said, referring to the way the Trump administration was currently handling negotiations.

Basically, Trump's gone Rogue and inevitably, Ukraine is going to have to fight on with only European support.

As a Ukrainian officer, who asked to remain anonymous, said in a brief message: “Mr. Trump is spreading so much false information that we will not comment on him.”

And on Ukraine - Trump is NOT on the side of public opinion

Taken a week after the fateful White House meeting between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and a few days after the White House announced it was suspending aid to Ukraine, our latest poll shows roughly the same results: 59% of Americans say they sympathize more with Ukraine while 2% say they sympathize more with Russia. And only a little more than a third (35%) say they support Trump’s decision to suspend aid to Ukraine.

Given Trump's cutting off of Intelligence left Ukraine momentarily blind, he's got a nerve. Also, he's completely wrong as to the pullback from the salient. They lost some equipment but not too many men. Sounds like Trump is just repeating what Putin's told him.

If they didn't start working on enriching their uranium when this started I'd be very surprised. Almost three years, they should be well on their way.
