For Those Who Might Be Wondering Why We Might Be In Ukraine

Ahhhh, now it makes sense as to why Lukashenko was suddenly being making noises about a Ukrainian threat to Belarus, and has been noisily making noises about moving Belarus units up to the Ukrainian border (while not actually moving anything). It's NOT because he plans to involve Belarus in the war with Ukraine, something he has been very obviously doing his best to keep Belarus out of, despite being 100% reliant on Putin to stay in power.

"On Aug. 10, Lukashenko claimed that 10 Ukrainian drones had allegedly attacked the country the previous evening, on Aug. 9. ......The next day, the Belarusian Ministry of Defense announced the advance of troops to the Ukrainian border, and official Minsk accused Ukraine of aggression." At the same time, Kyiv Post sources among Ukrainian border forces reported no activity from the opposite side of the border.

It does seem however that this is connected with the Kursk operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). Lukashenko, by imitating a threat from Ukraine, is trying to ‘ward off’ the need to send his troops to help the Russians in the Kursk region, especially given the attitude of the Belarusian army towards the Russian-Ukrainian war. He will do everything to avoid further participation in the war." Lukashenko himself is afraid to send the army to the Kursk region because he sees the catastrophe happening there for the Russian army.

LOL. The most dangerous guys in the world are actually placid old slightly overweight middle-aged white guys.....

Volunteers from the Vengeance Guard project, Yury Chornomorets and Dmytro Batishchev, who are dedicated to equipping the Ukrainian military, recently handed over a sniper system named after the hero city of Okhtyrka in the Sumy region, bordering Russia, to the National Guard snipers for Independence Day. According to the volunteers, the RUGER in .338 caliber rifle will be deployed in the Mauser sniper platoon of the 27th Pechersk Brigade of the National Guard, headed by the well-known Ukrainian sniper Serhiy Pozniak. “There is a lot of symbolism in the fact that a rifle named after the hero city of Okhtyrka will enhance the combat capabilities of this unit. Both the commander and the city share a common trait—indomitability,” Batishchev said.

So far, 23 cities in Ukraine and one village have joined the Vengeance Guard project, which Chornomorets and Batishchev launched in May 2023. Batishchev explained the project’s main idea: communities across Ukraine can raise funds for a long-range rifle, the core of a sniper system. At the same time, funds are being collected to equip the rifle with a scope, bipod, silencer, and other necessary accessories. The volunteers are now launching another fundraiser as part of the People’s Vengeance Guard, this time for a sniper rifle to be named after the city of Lviv. Ukraine Has Now Test Fired Domestically-Produced Ballistic Missiles, Says Zelensky

Speaking at a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday, Zelensky named the “positive test of the first Ukrainian ballistic missile” as one of Ukraine’s achievements but refused to elaborate further. “What other developments are there in Ukraine? Well, I thought it was too early to talk about it, but ... There was a positive test of the first Ukrainian ballistic missile. I congratulate our military-industrial complex on this.

Ukraine has had a missile program underway for some time now, and has considerable expertise in this field from the "old" days, when a lot of the old Soviet military industry was based in Ukraine. Soon, Ukraine will be responding to Russia in kind, and the need for long range weapons from the USA and Germany will have become less urgent. Great to see Ukraine becoming increasingly more self-reliant, and developing its own deep strike capability.

Another Russian fuel depot going up in flames. Hopefully we can enjoy this sight for the next week or so. Better yet, due to the ongoing destruction of fuel storage facilities in Russia by Ukraine, Russia has been forced to ration fuel, even for commercial passenger jets.

Very. And I don't think anyone expects Ukraine's deep strikes on infrastructure to win the war, just as Russia's strikes on Ukraine's power grid and its terrorist attacks on Ukrainian cities will win the war for Russia. I suspect though that with these new jet drones, and the ballistic missile Ukraine seems to have developed, we're going to see more oil depot strikes, hurting Russia's oil exports, which is where a lot of their foreign exchange comes from. We'll also see Russian aircraft pushed back to airfields further from the frontlines, which, combined with the F16's and the 2 Swedish AWAC's aircraft next year, will reduce the Russian's ability to provide ground attack support at the front, which is their only real advantage right now.

Now, look at artillery. Ukraine is upping it's output if Bohdana 155's, I think from memory the target was to roll 20 a month off the production line by later this year and it may well end up being more. Fuchs, Lynx and CV90's will be making an appearance and equipping Ukrainian brigades with modern IFV's. New brigades are formed, being trained and to NATO standards and more are coming. Ukraine's issue is not manpower, but weapons to equip them. Ammo manufacturing is increasing, both in Ukraine and across Europe. Ukraine is undoubtedly working on its own SAM systems, and I believe they are working on their own HIMARS equivalent.

But I totally agree, those deep strikes will not win the war but they are a distraction, and good targeting, which the Ukrainians are much better at than the Russians, WILL have an impact. If it was me, I'd target a few key manufacturing facilities with waves of drones and jet drones, aiming to take out the plant AND the workers simultaneously, and follow up with second and third strikes to take out the emergency workers and finish the job. Russia DID concentrate key weapons manufacturing in big plants, they're not that diversified, and a few strikes like that eliminate an entire plant AND the workers that make the plant effective. That won't win the war either, but again, it will have an impact.

Russian logistics relies on trains, and much of the Russian rail network is electrified. Take out power plants and substations and you impact logistics, with obvious flow on effects. And so on....

And then do what the Ukrainians are doing, and slowly isolate the Crimea and Kherson, with Kursk as a distraction, and then the right hook comes. There are a LOT of Ukrainian brigades out of sight right now, and I'm sure the Russians are asking themselves where they are. And if the Russian's DON'T move more troops to Kursk, the next Ukrainian push there will simply take more. And more...until they force Russia to respond.

It's going to be interesting.

Sources close to the line of contact are saying:

The eastern Front of Ukraine is collapsing and Ukrainian troops are in retreat along that line of contact. The Kursk salient is being enveloped and destroyed. Reports are saying Ukrainian forces including some 2000 American, Polish, French, and British mercenaries are being wiped out and that about 4400 of the original 12,000 man invasion force has been killed or wounded and most of their heavy equipment destroyed. Sources on Telegram are warning that most will be trapped in that salient with no way of escape. Not a word about this in our press. Note, mercenaries are not protected by the laws of war and these forces are being opposed by Chechen troops who are without question some of the most ruthless people on the planet.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that in the first combat action with the F-16 in Ukraine an F-16 and the top-rated pilot of the six that were trained was lost. It's being reported as well that two other F-16s were destroyed on the ground by Russian strikes after their location was accidentally leaked by the Ukrainian government. I have expressed my doubt in earlier posts that these aircraft could be integrated into an Eastern bloc country used to flying Russian aircraft for a host of reasons. One of those reasons was the time it takes to train a pilot to fly the F-16 and maintain it on the ground.

Sure they are 👍

Dmitry Medvedev shared an elaborate post where he lays out the reasons behind Russia's ruthless tactics in seizing Donbas, even if it means levelling cities and sacrificing hundreds of thousands lives. According to him, Donbas holds mineral resources valued at $7.3 trillion, a sum that, in Putin's eyes, justifies the loss of a few hundred thousand Russian lives (multiplied by 5 million rubles of payments per corpse, that's still nothing). For the past decade, the Russian people have been laboring under the Kremlin's control, eager to exploit this valuable resource. Meanwhile, Ukrainians continue to fight valiantly, refusing to surrender their land to the murderous thieves and plunderers.

They are key strategic resources for the 21st century and the reason, also, for Wagner and China’s activities in Africa.

Well, in the end it IS the Biden Administration that has been slow walking aid and preventing aid from other countries being effective.

Ukraine knows this as well as we do. Unfortunately it's not a Biden thing, because we all know he's been a figurehead for his entire "Presidency." And Harris is an irrelevance at best. I mean, it's obvious neither of them are actually in charge, and whatever cabal is running things in the White House does NOT wnat Ukraine to win.

The Kursk attack took them by surprise, and apparently they are now further slowing military assistance to Ukraine to bring them back into line. No matter, I think Kursk shows that the Ukrainians know they are now fighting a two-front war. One against Russia, and another against the back-stabbers. All this means is that Ukraine will need to bleed out the Russian Army and will take more casualties in doing so.

14 minute clip but worth listening to.

One thing I got out of this that I never clicked to, the Russian terrorist attacks on cities are intended to draw Ukraine air defences away from the front lines, so as to enable Russian air attacks on the Ukrainian front line units be more effective.

DONETSK ONSLAUGHT: Russians Approach Key Donetsk Center of Pokrovsk, the Largest City Conquest Since Bakhmut

by Paul Serran Aug. 28, 2024 10:15 am

In these three years of war, there is only one front in which Ukrainians have been consistently winning, and that, of course, is the MSM’s headlines.

These days, the incursion into Russian territory in the Kursk region is providing context for the pro Kiev crowd to fawn over their ‘victories’, but – as we have written about before – the cross-border adventure comes just as the defenses in Donetsk region are crumbling and Russians score victory after victory on the ground.

Now, Russian Federation forces are said to have begun laying siege to the city of Selidovo, and to be less than 10 km from Pokrovsk – poised to be the biggest conquest since Bakhmut.

Inhabitants of the region have now been forcibly evacuated and met by humanitarian aid workers and volunteers before being sent to shelters nearby.
