For the Irish Lits.....

Hiya Native Alien..... Happy St Paddy's Day to you too and anyone else who drops in!!! :D A few corny Irish Blessings... sure what the heck.. it is Paddys Day after all!!! :p

Irish Blessings

May you always have...
Walls for the winds
A roof for the rain
Tea beside the fire
Laughter to cheer you
Those you love near you
And all your heart might desire.

May God grant you many years to live,
for sure he must be knowing
the earth has Angels all to few,
and heaven is overflowing.

May those that love us, love us.
And those that don't love us,
May God turn their hearts.
And if He doesn't turn their hearts,
May He turn their ankles
So we will know them by their limping.

May your pockets be heavy and your heart be light
May good luck pursue you each morning and night

May you live all the days of your life, and
May the saddest day of your future be no worse
Than the happiest day of your past!

May the road rise up
to meet you
may the wind be
always at your back
May the sun shine warm
on your face
And the rain fall soft
upon your fields
And until we meet again,
May God hold you
in the palm of his hand.

Bummer. sorry to hear that you've got to do finals.

I'm of Irish descent (great grandfather came over from there).

thank you Finbar, and just how is it that we are an ocean apart but you still seem to know how to make me feel better on a bad day.

it is my grandfather Blue, so come join us irishpersons and we will have a blessing or two, cause i know that i could really use one.

maybe i should go dig up that disappointments thread? nahhh...think that i will take a nap instead.

*Waves to all of the good Irish folk*

Count me in, Native Alien. I have two Irish great great grandfathers that came to the US. One in the 1820s via New Brunswick (Irish Catholics from Cork), a lumberjack by trade, and the other came during the potato famine years to Michigan from Belfast, Ulster. He became a Methodist-Episcopal minister & served in the Civil War.

One family's son married the other family's daughter. Needless to say, they didn't win any popularity contests with the In-Laws by getting married, lol. Very unusual to marry outside of your faith in 1881.

I'm a genealogy freak, and spent several years working on the various family lines. It's a fascinating hobby.

HAPPY ST. PADDY'S DAY!!!!

Happy St Paddy's to all the Irish!!
(I'm not drinkin' either!!)

I'm of Irish decent on my father's side... our last name originates from there with several variations... so many E's, O's and Mc's added at one point or another depending on the area of the country... My grandfather was #6 of 12 sibs... still many of 'em lurkin about in lower Georgia... lol

I inherited the pale skin with freckles, green eyes and reddish hair out of the gene pool... I askeert of the sun big time!!! (skin cancer from that side of the family, too)

Anyways.... I don't know too many Irish blessings without lookin them up but my motto has always been...

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!"

Seems to have gotten me by for the last 30- some odd years!!

Blowin' kisses and good luck your way!!
