OOC: Just to clear the timeline up a bit, here is what had happened, starting with Valla's first introduction to the point at which the following post occurs. (Times are "rounded" for convenience; don't take this too much to heart as it is fiction after all):
15 September 2030
Aboard the Mothership
2100 hours Alaska Time Zone:
"Remember," Alex said with a twinkle in his eye after Dyah once again called him Major Stewart. "Just Alex."
She smiled, then laughed, saying with humor and in English without the need for the translator, "Just Alex."
Pran Torka escorted Alex toward the hangar bay where a shuttle was waiting to deliver him safely back to his Command in Washington State. Regarding the Troyna Guard who'd been escorting him earlier, Alex told Pran, "I hope that Marine Jalla has not been assigned to something too dangerous."
"No, Major Stewart," Pran responded. "He is a trusted member of My Queen's Personal Bodyguard."
Alex asked about the possibility of Jalla being assigned to him during his Emissary duties, adding, "...and you as well, Medic."
Pran smiled to the Human, saying, "I would be honored to work alongside you, Major Stewart. It is, of course, up to My Queen."
Alex finished, "But we will discuss this further at a later time."
Pran heard the translation of the man's English, then responded in English himself, "Yes. I ... hope it will so."
He wasn't sure whether or not he'd said it correctly, but Alex didn't correct him, so he was somewhat proud of himself for the attempt. The Troyna led Alex back to his Guest Quarters to change back into his USAF flight suit; he was told he could keep the Troyna Diplomatic Corps suit in case he needed it. Pran said, "It is everyone's hope that your Superiors will permit you to be the liaison between our peoples ... the Emissary."
They reached the shuttle, boarded, and disembarked; the Mothership was currently over Africa, so the transit to the Pacific Coast of the United States of America was going to be a rather long ride, even at the Shuttle's incredible speeds. Pran told Alex, "It will be four hours before we are low enough for your escorts to join us. If you wish to sleep..."
Pran knew that by this point, the Human had been awake and active for a minimum of 15 Earth hours; Pran didn't know how long Alex had been in the air before the encounter with Dyah's AV. Whether Alex napped or watched the Earth pass by below was up to the Human; Pran himself watched Africa and Asia pass under them with great interest.
They dropped back into the atmosphere over Hawaii, the glow of the Shuttle's heat shields given the people of the islands a show they hadn't expected. As the promised escort of American war birds met the Shuttle, the latter's pilot waggled his crafts wings; it was something they'd been told meant friendship in this context.
One of the American pilots saluted Alex as she flew alongside. Pran wasn't at all surprised by the sight of a female pilot; 40% of the pilots in the Troyna Flying Corps were female.
Pran was intrigued by the Human War Bird and asked Alex questions about it. "I'm sure that some of what I'd like to know is classified, so please, say nothing that will get you in trouble."
Soon, the Shuttle pilot was using translated instructions from the destination base to guide his passenger in for a safe landing. The Shuttle was capable of vertical takeoffs and landings, performing the latter atop a large marking typically used as a parking spot for the USAF's vertical lift aircraft.
There had been some concern amongst the Military Hierarchy back on the Mothership that if a Troyna aircraft was allowed to land at a Human military base, it might not be allowed to lift off and leave again; the fear was that the Human's might want to have it for study. Because of this, the pilot remained in his seat with the Shuttle ready to lift off at a moment's notice, engaging its defensive shield and performing other defensive actions if needed.
As it was, the Americans were gracious hosts, with the Base Commander coming out to meet and greet Torka and, of course, his missing pilot. Pran spoke some more of the English that he'd been learning in preparation for this moment, saying, "My Queen ... greets you ... with peace." Then gesturing toward Alex, he added, "Major Stewart is ... hero to Troyna."
Anything else out of his mouth during the conversation came via the translator. Amongst other things, Pran explained that when the shuttle lifted off again, it would require 3000 miles of atmospheric flight to separate and collect the hydrogen required for escape velocity.
When it was time to say goodbye, Pran did just that, in English. "I honor meet you, Major Stewart. Hope meet soon."
The Shuttle lifted off again, heading east again, over the United States and, eventually, Southeastern Canada as it prepared for escape. It was escorted again, first by American aircraft, then by Canadian planes. Then, somewhere over Labrador, the pilot fired the ship forward faster than any Human aircraft could hope to keep up and pulled back the stick ... disappearing into inner space to head for home.
15 September 2030
- The following times are all recorded in the Alaska Time Zone (ATZ), where the air battle occurred between Alex and Dyah (and her crew).
- 0900: Air battle occurred.
- 1100: Alex and Dyah were rescued.
- 1400: They reached the Mothership. (Where over Earth it was is not mentioned, I don't think.)
- 1500: Docking and unloading take time; Alex leaves shuttle.
- Alex was given a short tour and quarters, where he got a shower and a change of clothes.
- 1700: Alex is finally presented to Queen Valla.
- 1730: They headed to the Command Center to observe the attack on the Russia and Chinese war machines in response to those two countries firing ICBMs at the Mothership.
- 1935: Attack ends, but as it does, Russian launches nukes at Earth cities: Washington DC. London. Paris. Berlin. Madrid. Brussels. Warsaw. And Kyiv.
- 1955: Kyiv is destroyed by a 40kiloton (twice the size of Nagasaki) battlefield tactical nuke. (This was 0655 local time.)
- 2030: Alex visited Dyah in her recovery room.
- 2100: Alex left Dyah to return to his Guest Suite and prepare for his departure back to Earth.
- 2130: He boarded a shuttle to return to his base in Washington State. Fairchild AFB is in the Pacific Time Zone, 1 hour ahead of ATZ, there for the times below are in PTZ.
- 0230 PTZ: Alex arrives at Fairchild AFB in Washington State.
- 0300 PTZ: The shuttle departs, leaving Alex behind.
