I have worked in surg but never dealt with the cautery at all--please explain to me the grounding concept.

I know that they don't want you wearing any metal incase you get burns at the site--the way I understand it though is that you can't ground to yourself even if it is separate metal objects touching each other.

Do I understand this correctly?

Do I have any need to worry about my pussy rings touching each other during a long surg?

I am contemplating a surgery that will take maybe 2-5 hours and will have a recovery in-hospital time of a full week. It will be impossible for me to simply remove and replace my rings right after surg--and plastic retainers are bad to wear for weeks at a time--any suggestions? I really don't think I can talk my sister into replacing my pussy rings while in the hospital--she is completely horrified that I have them at all!

Last week I had endometreal(I know spelled way wrong) ablation done. Before I had the surgery I just asked my Doctor what do to with my hood piercing and he said nothing just leave it alone it shouldn't bother. Normal cautrey is like a 50/50 mix of whatever(I'm tired) and ablation is a 70/20 mix. So my understanding is it's much stronger. But I had no trouble.

So I'd say ask your doctor what he says about it. He may not have a problem with them being there. Good Luck with whatever you are having done.

(sorry my spelling and discriptions suck so badly but I've been up since 4am.)

I don't work in surgery, nor do piercings, but this sounds like "the cautery" is a device that emits microwaves? From the name, it is uses to sear wounds to seal small blood vessels?

If the hazard is from metal heating as a result of microwave signals, then it doesn't matter if you're grounded or not. The heating is caused by what is called the "hysteresis effect"(sp) where microwave case metal to heat by inducing curent within them. A powerful magnetic field will cause similar heating by inducing a current in metal object.

If "the cautery" produces strong microwave emissions, or a powerful magnetic field, then change to plastic for a day or two. Whether a metal object hets up, and how much it heats up depend on a lot of esoteric factors. However, when the conditions are just right, I've seen 20 guage copper wire melt from hyteresis heating.

nurse?

Did somebody say nurse??
Here I come to save the day!!! (name that show!)

Anyways - the reason we say take the metal off is for 2 or 3 reason - a)rings, earings, - loss!!!!or Theft - if they ain't there they can't be stolen or lost
b) ears and fingers are used for oxygen and heart beat monitors
c) if it is a wedding band we will tape it on for see a)
d) risk of infection - all openigs on a body with a foreign object imbedded in it have a risk of infection - even closed holes
e) if the 2 metal pieces are touching there is a very very slight chance of sparking - hospitals are poor they DON't want to pay out an insurance claim
f) the doctor is an asshole/imbecile and doesn't actually know that the risk is SOOOOOOO small it is basically none existent - i mean do you take out your lead teeth fittings??? DOH!!

So really there is minimal risk - but ask the doctor and she what he she says!

PS - would you mind me asking what the surgery is for it is pretty long!! (if you only want to PM it to me or not tell at all I understand!)

Oh no, BG! We all want to know now!

I won't tell you what it is, but I will tell you what it is not.

It is NOT a boob job.

It is NOT a sex change op.

It is NOT cosmetic.

It is NOT brain surg.

It does not involve any penis, prostate, testicular tissue, or swimmies.

And it is not going to be fun.

But, I have goals to reach and this will help me in reaching them and living my dreams.

Oh yeah--it is also not DENTAL.

ummm

How about tongue lengthener???

I think I would want one... HEHEHEHE!!! Touching one's tip of his nose is not quite long enough...

There is a possiblility of burns if the rings are touching. If you are diabetic or have fragile tissue you might want to remove them. If your surgery is major and you will be getting lots of IV fluid you might also want to remove them. Post op edema can be alarming on people who require major fluid replacement. Your doctor should know.

I'm good. Thank You for asking.

I loved Mighty Mouse too when I was little.

What are the odds of having edema in my pussy lips??? I have never seen females suffering excessively swollen genitals--guys... yes--women...no.
