A thread about fat American women and the men who find them attractive.

Questions for Discussion:

Men: Do you find fat women physically attractive?

Women: Do you enjoy being fat?

Discussion Notes:

"Big Beautiful Women"

The term "BBW" was coined in 1979 by American Carole Shaw as the hook behind a magazine she wanted to start aimed at "plus-sized" (fat) women.

Fat women have always been considered abnormal and unattractive. Further, there is plenty of scientific evidence linking obesity in women to a range of psychological and physical health issues.

A previously under-served "taboo" market, fat American women devoured the positively-biased BBW Magazine, making Carole Shaw quite successful and giving advertisers of products geared towards obese women a new vehicle to reach the appetites of their consumers.

The term "BBW" caught on and nowadays most fat women don't even know the term is a magazine.

Over 30% of all adult American women are obese, the highest rate of obesity in the world.

If you look only at American women over 35, the rate is over 65%.

Fat Attraction

A 2009 study found that male fat admirers preferred females that were clinically overweight and rated both overweight and obese women more positively than slighter individuals.

The study concluded that "these findings suggest that an explanation for fat admiration may be that FAs are rejecting sociocultural norms of attractiveness"

So, we have men with abnormal desires who are attracted to women with abnormal behavioral patterns.

Fat Attraction & Obesity as Fetish

At some point, these abnormal desires take on a life of their own.

Fat fetishism is the strong or exclusive sexual attraction to overweight or obese people.

As well as traditional attraction, the topic also incorporates "feederism," where sexual gratification is obtained via the process of gaining body fat.

Graph

This graph shows the attraction of abnormal men to abnormally fat women. Though FA is primarily male to female, there are also normal sized women who find fat men attractive, though in smaller numbers.

Do I wish I was thin? Yep, sure do. I could find clothes to fit me better. I would probably have an easier time finding dates.

Am I lazy? No. I work out several times a week and I don't eat junk.

Yeah but you're not fat. You're Rubenesque!!!

Nah I don't even think you're that. I find you voluptuous. Which is....eh,

pretty damn close to perfect.

Mmmmm, a Reuben sounds good.

Fat women have always been considered abnormal and unattractive? I suggest you wander round an art gallery sometime. Or go to Africa.

LOL
DT, you crack me up.
I am considered obese by the medical community. Even though I don't eat badly, work out, and all my numbers are good- because of my height and weight, I am obese.

Most days, I feel ok with how I look. I think we all have things we wish we could change about our bodies. I wish my ass was smaller so my jeans wouldn't have to be too big in the waist to fit my cheeks.

I personally don't enjoy being fat. How do you enjoy people making jokes about you? Or feeling absolutely no shame at telling you "should you really be eating that?" (yes had that happen a few times!) Or my favorite....as I was passed by a mother & her child, she said "See honey, that's what happens when you just eat junk. You get fat like that lady." loud enough for everyone to hear. I was grateful to the woman who spoke even louder & said "See honey, that's what happens when siblings reproduce. You talk like an insensitive ass."

I know there are people confident enough in themselves that they don't care what size they are. I've always struggled with it & probably always will. But it sucks to be treated like you have no feelings or emotions, just because you're not a size 10.

Come down and work out with Vino and me we need a motivator. You can scream at us fat asses (thus feel better about yourself and stroke ego) and pull us off the couch while we're playing Billy Bucks Trout fishing in America on PS3 and scarfing guacamole.

We need to hook up so we can walk so next time that happens I can slap the living piss outta that bitch.

Say I won't.

People can be cruel, it's true.

I believe that instead of "empowering" the normalization of obesity, BBW Magazine would have served American women better by promoting healthier lifestyles starting in 1979.

You have the power and ability to achieve the happiness you long for. Own it.

Oh would you give it a rest already? You're a smart albeit swarmy guy but you know damn well if some plump chick propped up on your lap and shoved her big, fat titties in your face and said "Fuck me six ways to Sunday and stick it up my ass on Monday" you'd trip over your own damn dick to get in that ass.

So quit it. Oh and if you don't want to hollah cuz I will.

I like to think that I'm a generally happy person, but when you walk out of the house, thinking you're all that & a bag of chips, & someone says something about your weight to you its hard to own it. One day I went on a food run for my office. One guy wanted a big cheesebrger meal thing from this little mom & pop place he loved. I went in & ordered for him & the lady looked at me & said "Oh no dear. You want to order our salad. You really should eat better." Hmm...didn't hear her giving food advice to the skinny guy who ordered before me!

You've now made two posts in which you've talked about how you dislike what other people say to you and about you.

You can't change them...but you can change yourself.

Good luck!

Me, I don't find fat women attractive at all. I prefer women with a healthy body...their mind, well, I like that to be in order as well.

Here's something for you to consider and respond to....I gather you find fat women attractive. As a "FA", do you consider that praising fat women encourages them to remain unhealthy and die young due to obesity? Does that matter to you?

Post a pic of your washboard abs. I better not see any pixelation either.

You're right, but you also seem to be under the same illusion everyone else is.....fat=unhealthy. That may be true in severely overweight people, but not everyone. My dr tells me I'm healthier than most of his patients, & while losing weight is better, I'm not going to die from it. I eat a healthy diet, don't drink soda, & probably should do more than just my evening walks, but I'm good. I have thyroid trouble, which makes it about three times harder to lose weight than a normal person, but otherwise healthy as a horse. Don't just assume all fat people are horribly unhealthy.

I'm fine with my fatness. If people make comments, that's their problem not mine. As to my health, I did everything possible to lose weight and i realised I was getting sicker from the attempts, so i stopped. I have liver disease from the last medically supervised diet I was put on. Activity is a much better predictor of health than body mass. Lazy skinny people die before fat active ones. I have friends my size who have no health problems. Normal cholesterol, blood pressure, no signs of joint problems. I am just not one of them.

Lance, it appears that you have bought the party line with this message. Do some reading and get back to me.

Personally, I like bigger women. I am sure that they are not going to not loose weight because of my preferences. I don't say anything about it unless they ask, and I will tell them its a plus rather than a negative. I'm not going to tell them not to diet if they want to do that for their health. I mean I don't seem to find women who do anything because I want it on anything anyway. It seems I somehow always end up with stubborn, self-centered types who just want to argue so I don't think they would not loose weight because of me anyway. Even, so, its a lot less healthy to be an exercise freak and run marathons and all that athletic crap and blow out your knees or whatever. So, what's less healthy in the first place?

Also, women are naturally more padded than guys so the definitions of what is "heathy" per these guidelines seem off base in the first place. A third of American women are not obese. That is ridiculous, its not a reasonable definition of that nor does it take body type (big boned, genetics, etc) into account.

Dr. Lance:

Thank's for another educational thread...

...a question if I may?

How does a double chin manage to type?

Thanx in advance...

That might be the first sane thing I have ever heard you say. Kudos for being not a jerk like Lance:rose: I completely screwed my knees losing weight to have my son. In seven months I went from healthy knees to arthritic. I have sworn off diets.
