Well I will say good luck to you. Mass has a 1 day or 1 trial system which works well. You go, if not picked for a trial you are done for 3 years. If picked you are done when it is done for 3 years. Most trials take 1 day some take 2, or 3 days. Obviously Federal or the Big publicity trials you are there for a long time making $50 a day after 3 days.

Well I will say good luck to you. Mass has a 1 day or 1 trial system which works well. You go, if not picked for a trial you are done for 3 years. If picked you are done when it is done for 3 years. Most trials take 1 day some take 2, or 3 days. Obviously Federal or the Big publicity trials you are there for a long time making $50 a day after 3 days.

Dallas also has 1 day/1 trial system also. But I don't know how long you are done for. They said this morning that Dallas was the first to start the 1 day/1 trial. And I am not sure how much get paid for it. I haven't served on jury since the 80's. I was always exempt due to the kid being under 10 and now he is 10 and they definitely got me!!!!!!! Toni, In MA the employer pays the first 3 days and then the state give $50/day.

It's not much, but it is better than nothing.

Our employer pays our salary, plus they give you a small pittance and transportation allowance from the court system.

If they pay you for the whole month that is cool. I have actually never been put on a trial and generally I am out by 1 pm so it is half a day for a days pay, not bad. Boring but not bad.

Employers in Oregon are required by law to pay employees doing public service work like jury duty.

Good morning Brats! Hope everyone is having a great, bratty day!

Well I went to Jury Duty this morning. They swore us in, told us to take a break until 9:15, he came back about 9:20 and swore in the few ppl that were not there earlier at the swear in, then about 9:40 they called the first group, which I was one of, I was Juror 39 out 40. They had us fill out some paperwork and the judge told us he had good news/bad news. He said that after we filled out the paperwork we were free to go for the rest of the day. The bad news was that unless they call us by Monday afternoon that we have to be back Tues at 9am and there are supposed to be about 100 of us called back and if we are selected that the trial will last somewhere between 1-2 wks. So we all had to get notes showing we were there and that we had to come back Tues to take to our employers. I don't know how they are going to work this. Because when we have jury duty we get paid for work. With me working nights, we get the night before off w/pay. However, Mon and Tues are my nights off. So I don't know if they will pay me to be off Sunday night or Wed night. Or just wait and see if called back! I guess I will find out. So I may end up sitting on a jury on my birthday! What a way to celebrate your birthday, huh? Oh well, that is my civil duty!!!!!

Well unless you like them really hot (jalapenos, hot-sauce, tobasco, chinese tiny pepper, etc.) don't get too used to it it was just a setup.
