I would, except he's so not her sub. She's shown not one flickering instant of sexual interest in this doggie, but he's full of wish and hoping that will matter to her enough to ignore how she feels about him and want him all of a sudden. By trying to entangle her in this "really important gift" he creates his own torment. It's perfect.
