QB- I'll take Dan Marino. Montanta ran a system beautifully but I think Marino would be more adaptable
HB- I'll take Emmit
FB- Brown(I know he was a featured back but.....)
WR- Rice, Monk
TE- Tony Gonzalez
OL- Built around Munoz and Boselli and Dawson

Defense- Just wrap me up in a steel curtain.

Good choices, I would have to agree with Monk. Gonzalez is a good choice too.........how about Jay Novacek for TE? or Ben Coates?

I liked Joe's wife

especially in those Hanes for Her commercials.

It's a guy thing.

Ok, well this is about football so I decided to post this here. My brother in law worked at a restaurant that had frequent Bengals (you all know how good they are!, they suck). Anyway, they are constantly known as the worst tippers in the NFL. Any correlation to how good they are, do you think?

I like Emmet Smith, Walter Payton, Bob Griese, Dick Butkus, Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, the very cute Dallas guy, what is his name????

QB Joe Dakota!
RB Jim Brown, Barry Sanders
FB Garrison Hearst (Please?)
WR Jerry Rice, Randy Moss
TE Brent Jones
OL 95 niners

DL 85 Bears
LB LT, Norton Jr
CB Sanders, Ron Woodson
S Ron Lott

K Stoyanovich
P Darren Bennett
KR/PR The guy the niners had last year doing it

With Jim brown being top pick....

Yeah, my choices, IMHO were based on getting guys who I think would help me win football games. I'd want One game breaking receiver(Rice) and Monk who I think had the softest hands ever. Great possesion guy.

Why Tony? I just think the guy is a flat out athlete. He blocks well enough to be on the OL and runs well enough to be a WR. While Novacek and Coates have all been able to do great things(Chmura comes to mind too) Tony would be the guy I would think would be best able to fill whatever role I had in mind for the guy.

My number one, hands down choice would have to be Dan Marino. You could just do so much with the guy.

Finally someone remembers Stoyanovich. The only terribly good player for the Chiefs. Sheeeesh.

Who would Coach this monstrosity? He's an important player. And since they're all wonderful players, would you pick the same guys if it were iron man football?

Reggie White is my favorite player of all time. The man has heart.

Stoyanavich is pretty good but would I take him over one of the dozen or so kickers who all make some claim to greatness? Ehhhh?

Reggie White is simply the best example of how being such an Idiot can ruin my view of the man as a whole.

Give me Ed Jones on one side and Gastrineau on the other.

I think the obvious answer is that I would coach my team.

Joe's wife

When they came to town, us local rubes fell all over ourselves to make sure she had the best job, the best, everything, we really loved joe and let it show.

Man she just kept dumping on us and kept making it quite clear that all she wanted was back to California away from the rustics. We usually turn people like Len Dawson and George Brett into living gods who can write their own ticket in this town.

PS

Tony Gonzalas is great, especially in his United Way commercial!

We wanted Pete for Prez!

and then he tanked in the playoffs (but that just may be a cheifs thing, too!) :)

Although I bet he'd appreciate it if you could spell his name correctly :p

I'd rip you for this one but I think we've found a common ground on this AJ. Montana's wife is to you what Mcgrady is for me.

Man can your fingers keep up with your mind, I am three thoughts away and they are kinda on autopilot!

Attack for my insane views please!

That alone is damning enough of my ideas! :)

speaking of

United Way commercials..... back when I lived in Dallas, Tony Dorsette was making those United Way commercials with his family.... and talking about what a great family man he was....

Meanwhile, three nights each week, his silver Mercedes was parked in the condo parking lot where I lived.... his mistress also lived there....

Don't forget Terry Bradshaw.... (four SuperBowl rings and three MVP trophies)... or Roger Stabauch (sp).....

Randy Moss may have physical skills but he is as aggressive as a 90 year old woman......who is dead

Half the plays he goes half speed, he won't hit anyone. Once when he was at Marshall, I saw him go out of bounds rather than try and stiff arm a weak Kent State corner and try to score. He makes spectacular catches and drops the routine ones. And don't ask him to block whatever you do!!!

On an all-time team, hmm, Hermann Moore puts up awesome numbers year after year in a running system with crappy quarterbacks. If he were opposite Jerry Rice he'd be the best ever. Also you all forgot Tim Brown

I would also rather have a man with half Tim Brown's talent and 3/4 of his heart than 100% of Randy Moss. Geesh the guy got kicked off an airplane. You have to be a real asshole to have that happen

While we're on the subject of Raiders, don't forget the freeway flyer, Marcus Allen

I would agree with you 100% if this was an "All boy scouts who'll never annoy anyone" team. Moss is a fantastic receiver whose ability to bust games open may be unrivaled. I have the same questions about his drive but not real serious ones. He's a young and cocky kid who could put up numbers the likes of which the league has never seen. When we look at this question of who we'd want on our all time team we should ask the question "Will this guy help my team win football games" I think if Moss were back in the draft he'd go number 1. He's that good. Not perfect, but good

Moore and Brown are both top quality guys but no where near the level of one of the best ever. It's not fair to compare the entire careers of Brown and Moore to 4 years of Randy Moss. Remember Carter was written off similarly when he was an eagle. In 15 years Moss will be thought of as one of the top 5 ever.

Carter had a lot of personal problems in Philly and Buddy Ryan was not a guy to go cry on the shoulder of. It's not Moss's personal problems that affect him on the field, it's his inability to stay motivated, sometimes in key areas of the game. Lots of NFLers have been jerkoffs off the field but played hard on the field. Being an ass off the field in a violent sport is forgivable. You have to accept a certain amount of rogues. But Moss's lack of concentration and lack of toughness do cost his team. You can't tell me the New York Giants had an all-star secondary when they shut him down in the playoffs.
You can't just be a star padding stats in minor games, you have to be great in the great ones too, at least sometimes.

And his "minor indiscretions" include knocking the hell out of his gf in college who was over a foot shorter than he was. That remained "minor" because the police in his college town didn't have the balls to treat him like everyone else who beats on their girlfriends. Wish he had that kind of aggression when playing ball against men, even ones smaller than him

For leadership,

Steve DeBerg?

What the motherfucking finger is broken? Get a pin in it, I've got a game to finish! :)

I like toughness!

QB

Would either go for Namath or Montana. I mean, COME ON, Namath was the underdog, and he showed The Colts.

How about the best college qb that never fit in the NFL?

If Major Harris had come along 10 yrs later than he did, he would have been drafted in the 1st round...he was at least as good as Michael Bishop if not Michael Vick

Once again the charges of "Choking" in the big game were things that were leveled at Elway, Roger Clemens and Dave Winfield and all three eventually came up big. You are once again comparing what Moss has done in the last 4 years to the entire careers of guys, which is a comparison that Randy will lose.

After a big Sports Illustrated story on Vince Carter in which he was favorably compared to MJ an idiot reader wrote in to say "You didn't mention the thing that sets Jordan apart from Carter. MJ's six rings to Vince's zero" The reader was essentially saying the comparison wasn't valid because Carter had failed to win 6 championships in his 3 years in the league. So when you compare MJ's entire career to a glimpse of Vince you can obviously put him down for a lack of Career accomplishment. Randy, like Vince, may turn out to be the best big game player in history. Give him time before you write him off. As it is his physical skills and his potential make him a guy you have to consider as one of the best ever.

I didn't say "minor indiscretions" and don't think his crimes were Minor. But it is irrelevant to the discussion regardless.

Otto Graham was a great QB that is rarely mentioned..

Montana could always be counted on in clutch situations, also Elway and Marino won a lot of games in the 4th quarter and OT...

Deberg was a great leader and mentor for QB's such as Elway and Montana..It wasn't Deberg's fault the Chief's didn't make it to the Super duper..

Sammy Baugh was cut from a different stone than the rest..one of a kind...play both sides of the line and punt, unbelieveable...

Fuck...uh, wrong thread
