BTW, I went and tried on boots yesterday.
I tried lots.
There were tan ones that had a sort of leather guard going up over your knee and black suede with elasticated back to the calf so they fitted your leg snugly - which is nice if you have a shapely leg, not that I am saying anything revealing about my legs, ex-rugby player, dahlink, I'll leave it to your imagination (think muscle - but my legs are of course nowhere near as fine as Ogg's).
I bought a very elegant pair. They look as if they are supposed to be worn by someone called Emma or Tamsin <snerk>.
