Interesting idea. The problem with the Chinese character is that she has to be in China or at least in Chinatown for it to mean anything to anybody.
I'd move it to a fantasy world, and our poor MC has awakened after a debaucherous night and finds a strange symbol seemingly tattooed on her breastbone above her breasts. She has no memory of it and when she arrives home she asks her roommate about it. Unfortunately, her roommate swears she can't see anything on her skin. Several others say the same. As it turns out, only those who are trained in magic or are of a magical nature can see the writing. And the symbol basically tells the reader that she is a drunken foolish tart and will happily indulge in all sorts of naughtiness after a few tankards of ale. It makes her a very popular gal in certain circles and gets her into all sorts of trouble.
Until a young cambion (offspring of an incubus /succubus and a human) falls in love with her and they set on a sexy adventure to get the mark removed.

would just take one student of chinese (fellow student, co-worker) to read the characters.

It would not necessarily require a lot of different people to read the ill-tattooed lady and put her in numerous different perilous situations, just one wrong person reading it, at the wrong time causing the wrong things to happen, all of which could make for an erotic and tension filled story.
So, what if a young lady was dating a South Pacific Islander, but behind his back she had cheated on him? She does not know… that he knows, so when he suggests a tramp stamp type tattoo, she agrees with it not knowing what she is getting.
But after he kicks her to the curb for her infidelity, she gets a flat tire upon leaving… in the wrong part of town. As she struggles to change the tire, the back of her shirt rises up a little and some undesirable men read it. As they approach and question the lady, they realize she does not know what it means, and realize a fellow Solomon Islander was wronged by the lady, and set out to avenge their unknown, but wronged fellow compadre. Right there on the hood of the car... from three men... back to back to back. Secretly she loves the triple encounter, but the story would end with her leaving a frantic message for her local dermatogist for a tattoo removal as soon as possible.
Note: I changed it to Solomon Islander just to diverge a bit from the stereotype of a Chinese inscription. Any nationality opposed to the lady would obviously work.
